Muskegon Shootout Standouts

I was able to head over to the Lakeshore on a steamy Saturday afternoon to catch some Muskegon area teams competing. Here are the standouts for the day. Walker is a tall, athletic guard with excellent ball-handling skills. Despite facing tight defense, she consistently found ways to score. One notable play was when she drove baseline and finished with a reverse lay-up. Another highlight was her impressive block on the perimeter. Clausen is a tough player who works hard on both ends of the court. She was tasked with guarding the opposing team's best player. She made multiple shots from behind the arc and her ball-handling skills helped her team when they were under pressure. Young put on a clinic with her finishing moves on Saturday. She used a Euro-Step and a step-through finish to score through contact. She demonstrated impressive ball-handling skills while driving to the lane and making the right read when facing multiple defenders. She is a promising young prospect for North Muskegon. Kamphuis exudes exceptional court presence, and her team capitalizes on scoring opportunities in transition with remarkable consistency. She anticipates and executes long passes to her sprinting teammates, demonstrating her exceptional court vision. An adept shooter, she effortlessly sunk multiple three-pointers during the day. Without a doubt, I anticipate a standout senior year for Hailey! Freeland is playing at a high level this June, and the Muskegon shootout was no different. She has always been able to get to the rim with authority, but she has added range to her outside shot, knocking down multiple shots behind the arc. Her defensive tenacity has impressed me in her last few outings.
