Raquel made a major impact on the defensive end at The Expo, using her athleticism and timing to provide a strong presence around the basket. She came up with several blocks throughout the day, showing the ability to challenge shots and make opponents think twice when attacking the rim. Raquel, playing on Team 1 at The Expo, was my MVP and the best player I saw in the gym. Her combination of size, length, quickness, and athleticism makes her an incredibly difficult matchup. She has the size of a post but the skill set of a guard, and she showed just how much she can do with the ball in her hands. Raquel grabbed defensive rebounds and went coast-to-coast numerous times, using her handle and body control to navigate traffic and get to the rim. She played with patience once she got into the lane, allowing plays to develop, finding openings in the defense, and making smart decisions with the ball. Around the basket, she showed polished footwork, including a nice reverse finish, while also displaying a smooth pull-up jumper away from the rim. Raquel’s versatility and ability to impact the game in so many different ways separated her from the rest of the field.
