Lewis had me smiling, not because of what she showed me off the top but because of the officials asking me “Did you see that” but she’s a long and athletic guard, which is the base, and her “on the ball” pressure created some problems as she came away with steals using her quick heads as well playing the passing lane. She scored off the dribble but her step back 3 dropped the mic
Bentley Johnson
Bentley Johnson
Johnson is another “long and athletic” guard, you see I love that profile but what I also loved was her first step to get by the defender with ease. Body control was nice on her finishes, after contact, she saw the floor and she dropped the pull-up jumper in the set as well as the stop and pop in transition
Alexandria Brooks
Alexandria Brooks
Brooks is, you guessed it, yet another “long and athletic” guard who scored off the dribble using a slight HEZ coupled with a deceptive first step. Her body control helped her finish after the lick, she saw the floor in the set as well as in transition and she hit the boards and handled the ball afterward
Ava Fernandez
Ava Fernandez
Fernandez is one of those players you need to pick up as soon as she crosses midcourt and what I enjoyed about her was not only did she create her shot under pressure, but she wanted the ball down the stretch and set the defender up to drop the 3 and send the game into overtime was nice. Her 3 ball was cooking all day, she also saw the floor and scored off the dribble
Sydney Lough
Sydney Lough
Lough also showed she could knock down the long ball but watching her create separation and drain it with a hand in her face made it even better. Her midrange pull was nice, she also scored off the dribble from multiple angles and saw the floor, making good decisions under pressure
Favour Emeka
Favour Emeka
Emeka is “long and athletic” and although she is 3 inches shy of “the magic number” she plays as if she is 6’0. She elevates for rebounds, on both ends yet the elevation continues and helps her score around the basket. She did a good job attacking and finishing, played solid defense, and played the passing lane
