Today, we're talking about players who've put themselves in a position to thrive in this upcoming season. That could be due to their play last season, through the grassroots season, or by others graduating, but let's talk about some intriguing names heading into the 2024-25 season.

The Belleville guard has been a productive and efficient offensive guard since she stepped foot on campus in 2022. She's a zone-buster who can knock down open shots regularly and has the trust of her coaches to create for the Wildcats. She doesn't shy away from contact and will put her head down to attack the rim. She took about five free throws per game last season, which add up over a season. She's not a name I hear when people talk about guards in the 2026 class, but she's been as productive as anyone.

Lexi Kuffel

Everyone needs a player like Kuffel on their team. The Cameron native is an excellent athlete who loves to dig her heels in on the defensive end of the floor. She can stick with anyone athletically and turns defense into offense in the blink of an eye. She reads passing lanes well and forces opposing guards to hesitate before passing because they want to know where she is, and that takes away the rhythm that offenses look for.

[player_tooltip player_id='914523' first='Ashley' last='Rowe']

I've talked about Rowe at length. She's a skilled, quick, and talented guard who'll have the opportunity to make some noise this season before [player_tooltip player_id='374234' first='Olivia' last='Olson'], hopefully, returns later in the season from her knee injury. I thought Rowe was the main reason Cuba City was in the state title game against Laconia late, and she thrived when Laconia put a significant amount of defensive attention on Olson. I'm sure people in the Southwestern part of the state know how talented she is, but she's a kid worthy of being a household name heading into this season. Rowe is that talented.

[player_tooltip player_id='1049241' first='Brielle' last='Plueger']

The Tomah Timberwolves had their fair share of struggles this past season, but Plueger was something for the Tomah coaches to be excited about moving forward. She can knock down perimeter shots repeatedly and doesn't show any fear of driving at kids who are more physical than her around the rim. There's also a palpable confidence in her game. Plueger isn't afraid of taking high-pressure shots and hit a game-tying three against La Crosse Logan. Everything is graded on a curve when a team wins five or six games in a season, but Plueger is an intriguing rising sophomore.
