5A Northern Area Sharpshooters to Watch For This Season

The 5A Northern Area is home to some of the top basketball talent, and this season promises exciting performances from its sharpshooters. As a freshman she swung varsity at Mullen, winning a state title. Then, after moving up north as a sophomore, Paige followed that up by being a solid contributor on a state championship run at Roosevelt. This past summer Paige picked up right where she left off as a sophomore - Consistently hitting deep threes for her 17U [program_tooltip program_id='712413' first='BC' last='Denver'] squad. Fortunately for them their 2nd leading scorer, [player_tooltip player_id='716834' first='Kaila' last='Patterson'], comes back. Last year Patterson poured in an impressive 47 made three pointers. She also had a very productive summer playing for [program_tooltip program_id='712718' first='NOCO' last='Triple Threat'], proving game in and game out that she is one of the top 3 point threats around. In July at the Battle in the Sunflower Tournament Prep Hoops author, Robert Kelly, described Kaila as, "arguably the top perimeter shooting threat" that he viewed at the event. A big part of her contribution was her ability to stretch the floor by shooting it from deep. Clark shot a solid 34% and connected on 27 threes in her rookie campaign. While watching a JPS league 3v3 tournament game this fall I witnessed Madi make an eye popping 7 threes in one contest. Last season Ella made 23 of Niwot's 48 total threes for the season and there's reason to believe more of those momentum changing bombs are coming this season. At 5'11 she can finish at the rim, rebound, and block shots - But all of those are secondary to her sweet stroke from 3 point land. Caroline made 33 threes last season in a limited number of attempts.
