<p>With the club season winding down and coming to an end and high school hoops on the horizon, this will serve as a primer with players to watch this coming season.</p>

<p>Point guards are the focal point of the offense. Statistics can help, but many factors go into evaluating a point guard outside of the box score. The intangibles, the leadership, the ability to make quick decisions, body language, coachability, basketball IQ, etc., weight into scouting reports on lead guards. The handle, and court vision are two other key factors I look at when evaluating this position. We will dive into some of the top decision-makers in the state here below.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Shirley is our 10th-ranked point guard in the class of 2026 and 57th-ranked overall prospect in the state. The 5'4" guard appeared in 27 games for Chandler during her sophomore season. </p>

<p>She averaged 8.4 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 2.8 APG, and 1.5 SPG on 32% shooting from the field. In an expanded role with more experience, Shirley figures to improve her efficiency and volume. </p>

<p>With 57 varsity games under her belt already, she has the experience and tools to display why she is one of the top-ranked guards in her class during his junior season.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Perez is a 5'5" point guard out of Paradise Honors in Surprise, Arizona. She is currently our number 12 overall point guard and sits inside the top 70 at 68 overall.</p>

<p>Perez enters her junior season as a true breakout candidate. In 25 games as a sophomore, she averaged 6.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. </p>

<p>She posted a strong 4.64 Ast:TO ratio and shot 50% from the field, improving from her 39% clip her freshman season.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Pozen is a 5'4" point guard out of Rancho Solano Prep. She enters her junior season ranked as our 14th-best point guard in the class of 2026 and 74th overall in her class.</p>

<p>She put together a solid freshman season, averaging 6.4 steals per game to go with her 17.1 points on 39% shooting in 14 games. Her sophomore season was also strong, posting 13.9 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 3.5 APG, and 3.7 SPG, stuffing the stat sheet. </p>

<p>If she can cut down on the turnovers and continue to provide a balanced attack on both ends, she is due for a big junior season at Rancho Solano Prep.</p>

<p>As our Gregg Rosenburg <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2023/07/2026-player-rankings-2a-3a-standouts/">wrote on her last July</a>, "Another varsity standout already as a freshman last year. She led them in scoring and controls the tempo of the game with her ball handling and quickness. She can shoot it from the perimeter but prefers to drive it with runners and dribble drives."</p>

She transferred to Campo Verde (Gilbert, AZ) and suited up in 12 games during her sophomore season.</p>

<p>Willis is a versatile guard who can comfortably play as the lead guard. The 5'6" rising junior appeared in 21 games for varsity during her freshman season at ALA Ironwood. </p>
