Let’s Highlight Team Five

Today, we'll look at everyone I had notes on from team five and what they excelled at in the 5v5 portion of the event to close out the day.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='981247' first='Lauren' last='Ignatowski']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Whenever you think of what a Kettle Moraine Lutheran player plays like, you'll think of someone like [player_tooltip player_id='981247' first='Lauren' last='Ignatowski']. She's an undersized guard but is a rugged defender who finds ways to make plays on the ball around the basket and the perimeter. I thought she did good work away from the ball and understood the value of spacing and what she could do in space away from the ball. She'll fit in with the Chargers' program.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='890151' first='Aubrey' last='Lensmire']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The future Galloping Ghost showed plenty of positive traits in Appleton. Her length was noticeable from the start, but she knew how to use her length on both ends of the floor. Lensmire finished above contests at the rim, rebounded the ball well, and contained ball handlers when she had to defend on the perimeter. I also noted how well she cut away from the ball. Her constant off-ball movement generated scoring opportunities away from the ball, and those points could be valuable for Kaukauna this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='983582' first='Riley' last='Gizelar']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The first move that Gizlelar made in the 5v5 portion of the event jumped out because of how quick and deceiving it was from the block. Her quickness is a real weapon she can use around the basket at the varsity level, depending on how the coaches at Hamilton see the rotation playing out. Gizelar rebounded the ball at a high level when I watched her play, and her motor ran high whenever she was on the floor. She's a good athlete that can do excellent work around the rim. There are things she can work on to refine things like her footwork, but the outline for a productive GMC kid is there.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='939725' first='Addyson' last='Lydon']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another undersized guard who did some positive things on this team was the Sparta native. Lydon did an excellent job setting the tempo and got her team organized when she pushed the ball up the floor. I thought she did a solid job of forcing defenses onto their heels by running the ball up the floor, which created open looks for her teammates as the defense tried to get organized quickly, which generated some miscues for them in transition.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
