We're still working through everyone from the PGH Freshman Showcase. Today, it's Team Six's turn in the spotlight. Let's talk about some of the notes I had on them.

[player_tooltip player_id='899511' first='Lily' last='Newton']

Like the other undersized guards at the event, Newton did an excellent job applying pressure on the defensive end and taking away airspace against opposing guards. I also thought she did a solid job creating turnovers of forcing mistakes as an on-ball defender. She made extra effort plays and did her best to make opposing lead guards' lives miserable from start to finish.

[player_tooltip player_id='880249' first='Lauren' last='Mester']

The Mount Horeb guard might have been the most fun player in Appleton. [player_tooltip player_id='880249' first='Lauren' last='Mester'] has a high motor and is an undersized guard at 5'3. However, her burst off the dribble was as good as anyone's in the gym last Sunday. I loved her energy in rebounding the ball. She attacked the glass with a purpose and was one of the best rebounding guards at the event. Mester also had one of the best-looking shots at the Freshman Showcase. I saw her play in Stoughton at the Premier Fall League, and she was impressive there. I loved her motor.

[player_tooltip player_id='992514' first='Siena' last='Rabach']

I won't act like I know what's in store for most of these kids because things can happen that completely alter what a program does, from injury to players not coming out for the season or any other factor. However, Rabach was a player who I see as someone who should be able to help out her varsity team immediately. She's a 5'10 wing who can make perimeter shots and defend, which always has value. However, her defensive versatility will be a massive bridge from the talented Edgewood backcourt to their D1 post-commit. I'm a fan of her and can see her slotting next to a player like [player_tooltip player_id='914305' first='Erin' last='Schauer'].

[player_tooltip player_id='992512' first='Raegan' last='Hollis']

The future Albany/Monticello guard played differently than her older sister. The younger Hollis sister was more of an off-ball motor kid who flew up and down the floor. I thought she filled lanes well, moved the ball with a purpose, and did an excellent job rebounding on the weak side of the offensive end of the floor. Hollis read the game well and didn't try to push and do too much. The guard was a solid teammate who didn't attempt to do anything more than she needed, which is impressive. She'll slot into a high school team with plenty of talent, and knowing what she can do to help her team win shows maturity in her game.
