The Expo: Team Three Breakdown

There was an excellent turnout for the Prep Girls Hoops Expo this past weekend, with over 60 girls showing up to throw down at the Hidden Valley Boys and Girls Club. It was high-level competition from the jump, featuring some of the top players from across the state and plenty more ready to make a name for themselves. This event continues to get better every year and this year's crop of players did not disappoint. We'll go through each team to highlight each player at the event, starting with team three right here.    She left a huge mark on her games, playing with pure hustle. She was one of the higher-motor players I saw and did it in a number of ways. Whether it was chasing down/fighting for rebounds, actively pursuing the ball on defense, or flying down the court in transition, she was everywhere and made a ton of key plays on both ends of the floor.     She is a pure shooter who stood out immediately with her ability to stay ready and knock down threes. She has a very quiet, easy shot with no wasted motion which allowed her to get shots off quickly and take advantage of space. At one point she hit three or four in a row from deep and stretched defenses all day.     She's a strong guard who was especially effective getting downhill to her left, but she also started to heat up with the jumper later in the day. Used some nice moves to free herself up in the midrange and also capitalized on some space behind the arc to drop in some threes. Excellent rebounder and also made some nice finds on the break to help facilitate.     One of the shorter players at The Expo but had a huge impact. Has a tight handle and was absolute money from 3-point range. Got separation time and again with a quick behind the back coming back to her right and showed she can change direction on a dime.     She was the definition of a ready player. Always looking to attack, offensively and defensively, splitting defenders to the hoop, knocking in threes off the catch, and getting some sneaky swipes to force turnovers.     A solid contributor who was able to make some things happen off the dribble, getting to good spots, handling with good ball security, and creating some action to open up spots for other players. She also showed off a pretty good looking jumper and was able to bury some shots outside.     She's a strong forward with good size who was able to execute some nice footwork inside and make a good impact by the rim. Showed some good fight on the glass, was decently athletic, and moved well to find gaps around the paint to attack.     An electric downhill player who was a plus playmaker on the day. Excelled in the open court with supreme speed but was just as effective in the half setting her defender up with hesitations and big bursts. Was pretty aggressive defensively, smothering ballhandlers on pickups and making passing out of pressure difficult.
