So, I woke up this morning feeling great. Why? We are another month closer to basketball season. 2k25 drops this week. The WNBA season is getting closer to playoff time. Recruits are taking visits. Girls are getting offers. Rankings are going to come out soon (shh, I'll let you know more later.) Oh, and the weather is changing a bit. Goodbye, triple digits!

So this morning, the late great Earl Simmons, an American actor and Rapper, better known as DMX, came to mind today. He had some hits back in the 90s, early 2000s. I know all the girls weren't born, but the adults know who I am talking about. Well, he had song called “Who we be.” The chorus went as follows:

They don't know, who we be

They don't know, who we be

(kids, don't necessarily google the song and listen to it.)

This is where I am going to tie that phrase into this article. This is a large state. Plenty of talent within its borders. A lot of kids get overlooked and it's not their fault at all. Sometimes, it's about time and place. Let's throw opportunity in there as well. Where I am going is that there are a lot of girls who don't get the headlines, but can hoop. It may be based on the locale. It may be based on the classification. Uncovering these gems is what we try to do here at PGH Tennessee. So the lyrics if I had to rewrite the song should read” They're going to know who we are.” As we uncover some talented 25s, let's give these seniors their flowers. They've grinded for their clubs for years. They have molded themselves into prospects that will head to the next level. They may not get the headlines and that's ok. They are going to fulfill their dreams and compete at the next level.

So take a moment and check out some 25s who are some ball players.

[player_tooltip player_id='516540' first='Aisha' last='Patel'] (6'1/Sr./PF/ Bearden)- The Tusculum commit is a solid-two way player who can be a difference maker. Built with size and length, this young lady can create mismatches inside and on the perimeter. She can handle the rock to attack downhill to finish, she can pull it from multiple spots on the floor, if you need her to go inside and body up, she can do that too. Defensively, she can block shots, grab boards, get deflections by the boatload. A solid kid who is going on to play at the next level. But first, she has some unfinished business to attend to at Bearden as they look to take the next step towards capturing that gold ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='810612' first='Mary' last='Elizabeth Fox'] (5'9/Sr./G/ Page)- Solid kid who is a true go-getter. Can score it from all 3 levels. Can shoot from the 3 at a consistent clip. An ultimate competitor, what I love about her is the other things she does to help her ball club obtain victories. Rebounds, steals, timely assists, the occasional block shots. She plays with a motor but putting the ball in the bottom of the net is what she does best. One of the top players in Wilco will be looking to do two things this upcoming season: 1) select her new home for next year 2.) lead the Lady Patriots to new heights. She has what it takes to do just that.

[player_tooltip player_id='409106' first='Abby' last='Larkin'] (5'9/Sr./F/ Father Ryan)- An all around ball player who just plays the game the right way. She can do all things. Score it from all 3 levels, defend, rebound, get steals, ect. What I like about her is how she brings energy to the floor and communicates with her teammates. She's a true leader and knows Coach McLeod's system through and through. She plays with poise, doesn't get rattled, knows when to exploit a team's weakness. A heady ball player who brings it every time she steps onto the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='496305' first='Delaney' last='Price'] (6'2/Sr./PF/ Lausanne)- Once it clicks, this young lady could be scary. She is a multi-sport athlete for one, so she is very versatile. Can play around the blocks or hang out along the perimeter. She can score the rock from multiple spots, but it's the other things that really stand out when it comes to her abilities. She can rebound effectively, block shots, get tips and deflections. This kid has great size, a nice frame, and when a school takes a peek at her, she could come in and help contribute. Solid kid who is poised for a breakout year.

[player_tooltip player_id='409036' first='Elaura' last='Cox'] (5'6/Sr./CG/ Oakland)- Shifty guard who can slice through gaps with ease. This kid can shoot it from the arc, but getting down hill for an easy lay or a timely assist is what she does best. She competes on the floor, going toe to toe with tough divisional foes. She plays with a chip on her shoulder and it shows as she gets after it. She can defend, contribute on the offensive end, and spark runs for her ball club. She is a solid kid who is versatile and can hoop with the best of them.
