Kettle Moraine Lutheran guards are as similar as any other program in the state, and I mean that in the best possible way. Lauer is a hard-nosed kid who plays with an elite motor. KML kids do an excellent job playing larger than their frame and earning their team's extra possessions, and Lauer does that at a high level for an underclassman. After a severe and scary neck injury last July, Lauer should be able to get rolling at some point before the new year, if not game one. She earned minutes as a newcomer this past season and could be in for a more prominent role in year two.

The motor Verplancke has on the defensive end is what stands out the most about her. The Grafton forward is about 5'10, but would do an excellent job guarding posts and using her quickness to be a part of the Blackhawks' transition offense and defense. She doesn't stop running, which coaches will love when they see her play. There's room to grow for her on the offensive end of the floor, but Verplancke was a plus as a screener and roller when Grafton had her set ball screens. She isn't a big name in box scores but is effective in her role.

A name people may not know in Wisconsin's sophomore class is this Arrowhead wing. Pommerening seemed like a kid who could earn minutes this season based on her performance at the Scholastic live period in Appleton, but now she's someone Arrowhead may need to make a deep playoff run. Due to injuries, her ability to defend on the perimeter and create extra possessions is something the Warhawks may need to balance out their defensive lineups. I thought she had a solid summer and may get thrown into the fire early this season.

What coaches will love about Wardlow is that she's reliable. Wardlow is a defensive-minded kid who can pick up athletic guards at the point of attack. She's also shown some aggression off the dribble, especially at the PGH Top 250 Expo in Appleton last month. In the 3v3 portion of that event, she put her head down and put an absurd amount of pressure on the basket. If she can translate that style of play into what she does at St. Thomas More, she'll excel for the Cavaliers.
