2024-25 SEASON PREVIEW: MAC GOLD

<p>High school tryouts have arrived and the season is just around the corner. Growing up, I remember the excitement of reading preview magazines for my favorite sports teams and learning about key players before the season started. The enthusiasm and excitement I have for the Michigan Varsity Girls Basketball season has been building since the end of AAU, which leads to my endeavor to write these conference preview articles. Every coach and team in the state has the desire to perform better than they did the previous season in their conference and in the playoffs. Each year there are coaching changes, graduations, transfers, and varsity additions that shift the dynamics of teams in the conference. The Macomb Area Conference consists of a whopping 36 teams divided into six divisions with six teams per division. The Red Division includes Macomb Dakota, Eisenhower, Utica Ford II, Grosse Pointe South, Grosse Pointe North, and Port Huron. The White Division includes Anchor Bay, Cousino, Lakeview, Lanse Creuse North, Romeo, and Utica. The Blue Division includes Clinton Chippewa Valley, Fraser, Marysville, Port Huron Northern, South Lake, and Sterling Heights Stevenson. The Gold Division includes Warren Fitzgerald, St. Clair Shores Lake Shore, L'Anse Creuse, Marine City, Roseville, and St. Clair. The Silver Division includes Center Line, Clawson, Lamphere, Sterling Heights, Warren Mott, and Warren Woods Tower. The Bronze Division includes Clintondale, Eastpointe, Hazel Park, Lincoln, Madison, and New Haven. Each Division selects a total of ten All-Conference players and a conference MVP.</p>   <p>Continue reading to learn more about the MAC Gold Division 2023-24 season results and impact players heading into the 2024 season. Teams missing an impact player in the preview no longer have players in their program that we have evaluated and did not have roster information online from the 2023-24 season available to use review while reviewing game film.</p>   <p><strong>2023-24 Season Results</strong></p>   <p>MAC Gold Champion: Marine City (9-1), Runner-up: Fraser (8-2)</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Warren Fitzgerald</h2>   <p>2023-24 Overall Record: 21-3, Conference: 10-0</p>   <p>MAC SILVER ALL-CONFERENCE: [player_tooltip player_id='906921' first='Kaylynn' last='Millander'] (2025), [player_tooltip player_id='1058899' first='CaSaundra' last='Smith'] (2025), Janiya McWilliams MVP (2024, Macomb CC)</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Kaylynn earned All-Conference Honors as a junior and after seeing her dominate on the travel circuit, I expect her to be an All-Conference MVP candidate in 2024. She explodes past defenders off the dribble, elevates high off the ground to finish layups, and terrorizes opposing ball-handlers with her defensive pressure. Kaylynn creates separation from defenders using shifty crossover dribbles and buries smooth step-back 3s. She has elite athleticism and is a prospect college coaches should take a long look at this winter. </p>   <p><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2024/05/pgh-live-cgs/">Read More About Kaylynn</a></p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">St. Clair</h2>   <p>2023-24 Overall Record: 15-9, Conference: 7-3</p>   <p>MAC GOLD ALL-CONFERENCE: Alexa Vickers (2024), Audrey Schindler (2024, Aquinas Softball), Tabby Furlin (2024)</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">L'Anse Creuse</h2>   <p>2023-24 Overall Record: 6-17, Conference: 1-9</p>   <p>MAC BLUE ALL-CONFERENCE: [player_tooltip player_id='718952' first='Allison' last='Tuladziecki'] (2027)</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">As a freshman, Allison averaged a productive 13.4 pts, 2.3 steals, and 3 rebounds, earning All-Conference Honors. She has continued building on that performance during the summer, performing well at various team camps. Allison is a deadly perimeter spot-up shooter, knocking down six triples in a game last season. She pushes the ball with pace in transition and finishes layups with either hand. Allison drives hard to the basket and scores with a soft touch on her floaters. She looks ready to have a stellar sophomore season for the Lancers.</p>     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Marine City</h2>   <p>2023-24 Overall Record: 17-7, Conference: 9-1</p>   <p>MAC GOLD ALL-CONFERENCE: Josalyn Dietlin (2024), Olivia Volkman (2024), Jade Blanchard MVP (2024, Detroit Mercy Softball)</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Brookelynn chipped in on both ends as a junior for Marine City and with three All-Conference seniors graduating, she will have an opportunity for an expanded role in 2024. Brookelynn gives the team an outside scoring threat, hitting three triples against St. Clair last season. She stays active defensively to create steals and passes the ball to open teammates for assists. Brookelynn is a guard I will be interested in seeing more of this winter. </p>   <p class="text-gray-700"></p>     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Roseville</h2>   <p>2023-24 Overall Record: 8-16, Conference: 4-6</p>   <p>MAC GOLD ALL-CONFERENCE: [player_tooltip player_id='1059019' first='Meko' last='Barbee'] (2025)</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Meko is a strong interior presence for Roseville and she earned All-Conference Honors as a junior. Meko jumps passes to create steals and works to secure rebounds in the paint. She seals defenders to score in the paint and adds putbacks off of missed shots.
