Bob Dillon Invitational: Top 6 Winners Bracket Performances

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Saturday, a total of eight teams began this year's Bob Dillon Invitational at 5A Spartanburg HS.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Monday, four of those teams were placed in the winner's bracket and the other four were placed in the consolation bracket.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Monday's play saw Byrnes earn a win over Clinton and Nation Ford defeat the host Vikings. In addition in the consolation bracket, Catawba Ridge earned a win over Lancaster and Blacksburg prevailed over Union County.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We at Prep Girls Hoops were on hand for the second day of the festivities. Recently, Limestone and Claflin offered the talented guard for the Rebels. Dowling once again led her Rebels to an impressive victory over 2A Clinton to get to the championship game of the Bob Dillon Tournament. She finished with 16 points. She can play the role of a point guard where she sets up her team's offense in the half court, but is also accurate from long range ala many two guards. Dowling made a total of four 3-pointers in Monday's game. Evans was part of the starting five for the Rebels in its Bob Dillon Invitational matchup against Clinton. It resulted in a 54-32 victory for Byrnes and she finished with eight points. All eight of Evans' points were scored in the first half. One can insert Evans into a lineup as a small forward or either as a one or a two guard. We last got a glimpse of Evans during the summer at the SCLive Team Camp where Byrnes participated in. While the Red Devils came out on the losing end against the Rebels, Belton was a bright spot for the team. She came off the bench and did provide an offensive spark for Clinton. She led all Red Devils scorers with nine points. She stands at 5-foot-8 and puts every bit of that height to her advantage with the rebounds she gathers. Belton will cause problems for opposing teams as well on defense with the steals she collects. Nation Ford has played like it at the Bob Dillon Invitational. Following the Falcons opening the season with a win over Blacksburg, Heard and her team followed it up with a 58-51 victory over host school Spartanburg. She scored 21 points to lead all scorers. The 5-foot-4 guard is a ferocious attacker of the rim and has no problems drawing contact to get to the free throw line. As potent a scorer as she is, she will draw double teams which will open things up for teammates. Luczywo was that frontcourt anchor and the 16 points she put up against the Vikings were key in the Nation Ford victory. A good bit of what she did was by utilizing her mid-range jump shot. Luczywo is listed at 5-foot-10 on Nation Ford's roster and that comes in very helpful when looking to win the rebounding battle. She also displayed consistency throughout the contest in terms of her offensive production. When things were looking rosy for the Vikings, Bridges was one of the catalysts for an efficient Spartanburg attack. Bridges concluded the game with 12 points. Eight of those points were tallied in the first half – when the Vikings led after both quarters. Bridges will give a team productive minutes from either the point or shooting guard position and excels as an attacker of the rim.
