Division 2 Returning Standouts

We are less than two weeks away from the start of the high school basketball season. Division 2 is filled with talent. Let's take a look at some of the returning players.    Vanessa, last season's Division 2 Associated Press Player of the Year, showcased her impressive skills by leading her team to the Breslin Center and securing a state runner-up finish. A versatile guard, she averaged 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists per game, demonstrating her all-around impact on both ends of the court. Known for her sharp shooting from behind the arc, Vanessa isn't afraid to drive into the lane against taller defenders, showing fearlessness and finesse. Her high basketball IQ allows her to make smart plays and decisions under pressure. Heading into her junior season, Vanessa is poised for a standout year as she aims to lead her team back to the Breslin and content for the state title.     AJ is a 6'2" force in the paint, known for being a double-double machine and a dominant presence in the post. Last season, she earned First Team All-State honors from the Associated Press after putting up impressive averages of 19.3 points, 19 rebounds, 3.8 blocks, 2.1 steals, and 1.6 assists per game. With her intimidating presence in the paint and excellent footwork, AJ controls the boards at an elite level, making her a go-to player on both ends of the floor. Heading into her senior year, she's set to build on her success and is poised for a dominant final high school season.     Karie, a standout guard, and Northwood University commit, is coming off a stellar junior season in which she earned First Team All-State honors from the Associated Press. Surpassing the 1,000-point milestone, she averaged an impressive 20.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game while shooting 61% from the field. Known for her ability to take control of the game, Karie combines sharp ball-handling with exceptional court vision and passing skills, making her a dynamic offensive threat. She also rebounds at a high rate from the guard position, adding to her all-around impact on the floor. Last season, she helped lead Freeland to a 22-4 record and a run to the regional finals. Now, in her senior year, she's aiming to push her team even further in the postseason.     Lillie, an impressive talent and last season's Great Northern UP Conference Player of the Year, was a First Team All-State nominee as just a sophomore. She put up outstanding numbers, averaging 24.3 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 4.9 steals per game, showcasing her ability to score from all three levels and dominate on the glass. With her length and defensive prowess, she disrupts opponents and creates turnovers, making her a formidable force on both ends of the floor. Already holding Division 1 and 2 offers, Lillie is primed for an exceptional junior season, where she'll aim to lead her team to another conference championship and hopefully make a deep postseason run.     Alli, an Eastern Michigan commit, is set for an impactful senior season after a standout junior year in which she earned First Team All-State honors. Already Tecumseh's all-time leading scorer, she averaged 17.5 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals per game, while knocking down over 50 three-pointers. Known for her versatility and ability to dominate on both ends of the court, Alli was instrumental in securing a share of the SEC-White title and leading her team to the quarterfinals last season. With her sights set on another deep postseason run, she's ready to cap off her high school career with a memorable final year.     Isis, a highly skilled scorer and our top-ranked player in the class of 2025 played a pivotal role in leading Detroit Edison to a state championship and a 23-3 record last season. A Cal commit, she earned First Team All-State honors, averaging 16.9 points and 6 rebounds per game with an effortless scoring ability that makes her a constant threat on the floor. Entering her senior season, Isis will look to guide her team to another title and cap off her high school career with another state championship.     Charlotte, a talented guard and Ferris State University commit, is coming off a strong junior season in which she earned Second Team All-State honors and helped her team reach the state finals at the Breslin Center. Averaging 12 points, 4 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game, she showcased her versatility and scoring ability from all over the floor. As she heads into her senior season, Charlotte is primed for a breakout year, with her sights set on leading her team back to the Breslin and capturing that elusive state championship.     Cecelia made an immediate impact as a freshman, earning Second Team All-State honors from the Associated Press and leading her team to a strong 19-6 record last season. Averaging 16 points, 9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2 steals per game, she showcased her ability to score from all three levels and her well-rounded skill set on the court. With a high basketball IQ and a fierce competitive edge, Cecelia has already drawn numerous Division 1 offers, a testament to her talent and potential. Heading into her sophomore season, she's poised to build on her impressive start and continue elevating her team's success.
