Silverdale Baptist Academy: Dominating District 2 East Region

This program, in my opinion, has been one of the more consistent/ stable clubs in the East Region, District 2 for some time now. They rule the roost per se, and have been doing so for a few years now. The program is built on playing fundamentally sound basketball coupled along with athletic talent that has a desire to want to get better.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Led by Coach Victor Underwood, he has had tremendous success over the last couple of years. His style of play has brought a balanced attack where girls thrive and compete. Girls who have been in his program, have gone on to play at the next level. Last year, his club went 26-7 overall, finishing 8-0 in the district. In fact, they have been the top dogs in the district for some time now, and don't plan on relinquishing that title any time soon.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These Lady Seahawks are ready to spread their wings and soar. The past couple of years, they have been upset in tournament play, allowing opportunities to get away from this. This season, they look to continue their winning ways and are more equipped to go further come February. The district may be a little tougher, but they still are favorites to win it. This team has put in some major work this offseason. A kid that can take it coast to coast. Plays with a high motor that creates pressure on the defense. Kinsley is tremendous in the open floor where she is so aggressive. Her ability to push the ball in transition as she attacks the lane, frees up others along the way. She's not out of control, but poised with the ball in her hands. Has a high basketball IQ, she makes the right reads at the right moment. She can pull it from multiple spots on the floor, but when she starts pushing that ball out in front, good luck stopping her. This kid is fearless. Plays solid on both ends of the floor. Contributes in all statistical categories. Offensively, she is great at getting second chance shot opportunities and finishing. She has a knack for reading the trajectory of the ball and going after it with high hands, coming down strong and finishing off two feet. I love her ability to finish with either hand in between the blocks. She definitely knows how to use her size to her advantage. Defensively, she is big time on the boards on that end, plays with high hands that forces the opponent to shoot over the top, get deflections, and clogs the paint. Another trait I feel people overlook is her ability to be an exceptional rim runner and if she doesn't get the ball over the top, she establishes herself as a solid target down low. This kid keeps getting better and better. She is a tough competitor who just loves to hoop. She can fill it up from the arc at a high clip, but won't hesitate to put the ball on the floor either to go get a bucket. You can tell she understands the little nuances of the game. On the defensive end, she is solid in the one v one scenario. She plays great off ball defense by getting in gaps, doesn't let skip passes reach, she just has a trait that enables her to track the ball and go get it. A kid who can score from multiple spots on the floor, however it's her defense that's her number one thing. This kid has active hands and quick feet, which enables her to get steals and deflections. Has a high basketball IQ, reads and reacts on the floor well. You can tell she times things up well and will bait opponent's into where she wants them to go. Look for her to come in and contribute right away. Look for her to come out the gates early to contribute as she sees her minutes increase.
