As a coach/scout, it's fun to watch games. Sometimes, when you take an action, it sticks with you like a highlight. For example, there was a Joe Budden song with Just Blaze called “Pump It Up.” While writing this, action shots of kids scoring the ball are rolling through my mind. Crazy, I know, but I tell kids all the time, basketball is like music. You have a blank page, and it's up to you to make that music sound like your own masterpiece.

The reason I write is that there are some hits out there that many aren't talking about. No, not music hits, but kids who are overlooked by their impact on the basketball floor. There could be many reasons why one might be overlooked; however, here at PGH, we see you. The impact of one can be felt in multiple ways. Rest assured, as one continues to put in the work, the cream always rises to the top.

Here are some young women who not only have the numbers to support their nomination, but whose impact is felt in multiple ways. Check out some ballplayers who are worthy of a Miss Tennessee nomination from Middle Tennessee.

Ms. Red is a beast, and everyone in the gym knows it. She is a true student-athlete (4.0 GPA) who knows when to strike. A kid who plays with poise, she knows how to use her body to create favorable mismatches across multiple areas of the floor. From knocking down shots in the paint to hitting the occasional 3-ball, her presence is felt in more ways than one. One thing that often gets overlooked is her effectiveness as a rebounder. She's a possession killer that can gain the ball like no other. 20.4 ppg, 10 rpg, 2.0 bpg, this Samford commit is one that can anchor a club. Keep tabs on her as she looks to help lead PCA towards state contention.

Athletic. Versatile. Physical. So many adjectives can describe this young lady's game. Let me add effective. She exploits a defense by leveraging her size and athleticism. She can knock down perimeter shots, exploit the mid-range, and post up in the low-post; her scoring ability is exceptional. Something that doesn't get talked about much is her defense. Quick hands, quick feet, she gets steals and deflections like no other. Add in her ability to block shots, and she's a solid two-way player who is impactful. 17ppg, 7rpg,3spg,2asp. Her impact is felt for 32 minutes solid. Keep an eye on this prospect as she has the size and makeup to dominate on this level and the next.

Fears no one. Confident. Competitor. When this girl laces up her shoes, it's show time. This kid finds ways to impact the game no matter what. She can change speeds to get to favorable spots, create on her own, and be used in a system; in any case, the ball will find the bottom of the net. Averaging 20ppg, shoot 44% from 3, the Kentucky Wesleyan signee gets after it. She's a leader amongst her team, both vocally and by action. Her team goes as she does, and when she is on, it's hard to slow her down. Look for her to provide Richland with one more solid ride this postseason. A class A gem scorching the nets in southern Middle Tennessee.

Call her an “underdog,” this young lady puts on a cape and transforms her game to reach new heights. By learning to play multiple roles and overcoming numerous challenges, she has elevated an RHS program that is knocking on the door of a postseason run. She can play with the ball in her hands or on the wing; either way, she uses her speed to create shot opportunities. From knocking down the 3-ball or getting into the paint, Amaya is averaging 17.1 ppg this season. Tack on her ability to rebound the basketball (8.1rpg), and she is a magnet to the ball. She's a Dyersburg State signee that coaches have to game plan for. Look for her to leave her mark down the stretch as the Lady Rockets look to take off.

She's the captain of this Lady Wildcats ballclub. The MTSU signee is definitely a bucket, but her impact is felt on both ends of the floor. She averages 16.2 ppg and excels at securing rebounds and steals. She's a solid two-way player who poses as a threat wherever she is on the floor. A tremendous ballplayer, she will score from all 3 levels and then turn around and defend aggressively. She's put together an impressive body of work over the years, and she isn't done scratching away at the competition. Look for her to lead her team deep this postseason as they are ready to cut loose.
