Our quarterly rankings are coming for the 2027 class and its almost perfectly aligned with the season's start. Social media is playing a much larger role in exposure, especially in the last few years. Earlier in the week, there was a post on Instagram inquiring about top sophomore talent and there was an overwhelming response from the community. Below are some popular '27 names to know as the season approaches.

Be sure to check out our Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/pghnewengland/

Use code MBG30 for 30% off your first purchase of any subscription

[player_tooltip player_id='354208' first='Abbey' last='Steele'] (2027) | 5'7 PG | Gray/New Gloucester

The #10-point guard currently, Steele is a dynamic player that plays with tremendous energy on both sides of the floor. She has the ability to knock down tough shots and can singlehandedly get her team out of stagnant moments with energetic plays that bring life to the team. Steele isn't scared to take the big shots that come within tight games. Abbey is a stellar defender too. She will pick players up way out by the halfcourt line. Steele is active off the ball, but rarely ever out of position. Even if Abbey isn't getting credit for the steal on the stat-sheet, her efforts often lead to disrupting the offense. Abbey is one of Maine's better pgs and a talent to keep an eye on all year.

[player_tooltip player_id='968022' first='Olivia' last='Faria'] (2027) | 5'8 CG | Dartmouth

Last season she was a sleeper prospect, but her game is too polished to be overlooked. Olivia is currently the #9 combo guard and she can be a stock riser this season. Faria is an all-around 2-way player that makes the essential plays needed to win games. She has a stable jump shop and also shows the poise within the lane needed to carve out crafty finishes amongst opposing bigs. Defensively, Faria shows the capacity to be a lockdown defender. She gets in ballhandlers' spaces and shades players to whichever side she prefers. Olivia opens her hips while still remaining low in her stance. She is super reactive and causes havoc for backcourt players. The Dartmouth guard is a stellar player that will come into the season with plenty of momentum after a successful AAU season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1055976' first='Kailey' last='Maier'] (2027) | CG | Dracut

Last year Kailey had a couple of monster games and this year she she'll provide more games with high levels of production. The sophomore combo guard is a player that can quickly climb the ranks with her vigorous scoring outputs. Kailey is quick off the bounce and a sharp-witted penetrator who can be a steady option in catch & shoot scenarios. Not only is she a scorer, but she is dynamic on defense too. Maier can string together games with multiple steals. She blitzes weaker ballhandlers and overwhelms them in an attempt to get them to turn it over. Kailey is an admired sophomore talent for Dracut.

[player_tooltip player_id='1041806' first='Emma' last='Moore'] (2027) | 6'1 C | Reading

Emma offers great versatility as a big. She does a little bit of everything on the floor. Moore sets backscreens, flashes to the high-post, dives to the block and gets offensive rebounds. She's a solidly built 6'1 that can play through contact. She has a nice touch around the rim and gives her team extra possessions with her domination on the glass. Moore brings great defensive tactics that deter dribble penetrators from getting deep in the lane. She steps up to show her body in intimidating fashion which discourages the smaller players from attempting layups. Emma holds her own on the block and the strength can absorb contact in the paint. Reading has a big with a lot of potential.

[player_tooltip player_id='1055985' first='Nyasia' last='Caban'] (2027) | 5'4 CG | KUA

Nyasia is one of the most dynamic guards in the class. Incredibly talented and she has a high-level skillset. Cuban gets the angle on defenders by turning the corner quickly. She is deceptively fast in a straight line, but even more speedy laterally. The quick bursting speed in combination with the crafty handle make her a matchup nightmare for anyone. Nyasia has a smooth pullup shot and a fantastic release point that allows her to get her shot off in front of anybody. She's a constant threat in isolation or within the offensive schemes. This is a tremendous talented guard that's in for a big year.
