Connecticut continues to be one of the hotbeds of girls basketball in the New England region, full of top talent and great teams. Within the mix, the Central Connecticut Conference might lead the pack, a conference full of depth and talent. This article will recognize some of the best players in the North Division, the top dawgs, not dogs, who put it all out on the floor and have been rewarded with success as a result.

Bella Cucuta - Newington (2025)

Among the leading scorers in the state as a junior, Cucuta has developed into an impressive player to watch with great skills across the board. Very complete player as of now with a college-ready mindset and skillset. Knows how to score, is efficient from three as a high school player and uses her physicality to get bucket in the lane, in transition and at the foul line, a consistent theme that's benefitted her greatly.

Taylor Jackson - Bloomfield (2025)

You'll see a pattern with a lot of these players, returning all-conference selections, like Jackson, heading into her senior season at Bloomfield. The guard is a seasoned veteran on the floor at this point in her career, an unquestionable leader and playmaker at the top of the key. Can create space for herself or find ways to get teammates involved. Jackson is poised, mature and productive in all facets of the game.

Kyelah Smith - Bloomfield (2025)

Alongside Jackson in the backcourt is Kyleah Smith, another senior guard that came into her own over the course of last season. Versatile piece that put up double-double averages as a guard. Crafty and shifty with the ball, Smith will make a player's knees buckle before she finds an open lane for a quick layup. Do-it-all kind of player and then some with range to go with it. Very impressive breakout junior campaign for her.

Jazzy Garcia - New Britain (2027)

Garcia was the lone freshman in the conference to earn all-conference honors, a testament to how good she was on the floor coming out of the gates. Great start for her as she averaged 12.5 points per game offensively and was one of a few bright spots on a team that struggled overall, finishing 6-14. Would really like to see her tap into her potential more as a passer and rebounder, but the tools for success are there.

Kendall Miller - Newington (2025)

Are Kendall Miller and Bella Cucuta the best backcourt duo in the state? That remains to be seen, but what we do know is that they're firmly in that conversation. Miller is the complementary piece of the two, but someone who has come into her own, leading her team in assists, blocks and steals, among other categories while averaging nearly 10 points a game. Breakout season is an understatement for last year.

Katie Harding - Rocky Hill (2026)

The dynamic junior duo at Rocky Hill, an impressive combo of physicality and finesse, strength and creativity. We begin first with Katie Harding, someone who can give you 20 points a game and even double-doubles if she gets free down low. Forget about 20, she had 40-point performances as a sophomore, dominating competition on the perimeter, midrange and the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='491812' first='Kelsey' last='LaMay'] - Rocky Hill (2026)

LaMay was already making heads turn as a freshman, knocking down threes with ease, which is an understatement for what she was able to accomplish. Her sophomore year only built off that production, becoming more experienced, more seasoned, but most importantly, more productive. Now, she's a household name, a guard with range that will terrorize opponents anywhere and everywhere on the floor.

Eliza Polmatier - Wethersfield (2025)

Wethersfield is going to need some big contributors on the court this season to make a run at the postseason, a place where the Eagles fell in the first round. Polmatier is someone that can carry the torch, a shooting guard with plenty of range, not to mention efficiency in shooting. Solid defensive presence with a great feel for the game and different situations. Definitely a player that can step up in big time situations.
