Upcoming Basketball Season: Division II-A District 2 Insights

Featuring schools around the Chattanooga area, this district has been won by Silverdale over the past couple of years. Here recently, Boyd Buchanan has crept onto the radar giving Silverdale a fight. This district may not have a lot of teams, but it's very top heavy with both Silverdale and Boyd as the favorites.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Around the Chattanooga area the game of basketball has improved. A lot of the talent plays in the public school sector, but slowly but surely the tide is starting to change. With more polished coaches and upgraded facilities, this district is starting to change for the better. Silverdale has been the big dawgs for awhile now. A few years back, they had a Miss Tennessee nominee in Laney Bone (who went on to play at the University of Buffalo.) There has been other successful student athletes that have come out of this district, but none of her stature. This upcoming season will be an interesting one for sure. We all know who the top two favorites are, but will there be a team that will come along and knock them out? Notre Dame isn't bad and Grace Baptist always shows promise, will either of these clubs out it together and contend with either of the heavy weights?</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Like all things, you just never know. You can only control what you can control. There is no doubt in my mind that these young ladies that suit up for these prospective schools have been putting in work in the offseason. Fine tuning their game, gaining valuable experience on the circuit, I believe the quality of play in this district will have improved. The nod still goes to Silverdale and Boyd Buchanan coming out on top. We can flip a coin and see who will finish one and two.
