She has been a strong scorer for us and draws a lot of attention. She is a versatile athlete and loves the game of basketball. She is the type of player that gets her team involved and was our assists leader last year but isn't our main ball handler. When high-pressure situations occur, her teammates are usually looking for her. She is a 3-year starter. I am expecting her to step up in the leadership position. She will need to knock down the three-point shot where she thrives but will also need to drive and get into the paint as she is a good free throw shooter."

Jada Ottmar ('26) 5'7 G
"Jada suffered an ankle injury early last season which at times held her back. I am hoping this year she is back to being aggressive to the basket but also be ready to knock down the outside shots. She has great shooting depth and is a lefty which can make her an even bigger threat. She will need to be one of the main point guards to be the coach on the court and get everyone organized and to stay composed."

Summer Meyer ('26) 5'8 F/C
"Summer will need to keep climbing up from where she left off last season. She was a big problem in the paint for other teams as she worked her tail off securing rebounds and getting put-back points. I think she has the potential to take it up a level from last year. We will look for her to also pop out and knock down the outside shot at times as she is a good shooter. Summer is also expected to be a leader for us as she has a strong vocal capability."

Emily Manolovits ('26) 5'4 G
"Emily was our 6th man last season and always brought the energy.
Natalie Wiesinger ('26) 5'9 F/C
"Natalie will be looking to bring a 3 or 4 for us. She is long and quick.

Allison Grist ('26) 5'5 G/F
"Allison is a nice player, even though she doesn't have much height she is strong and has a great shot. She will be expected to be a lockdown defender and be ready to knock down shots."

Jaycia Thomas ('26) 5'7 G
"Jaycia is expected to replace our steals leaders from last year. With the length Jaycia provides we are hoping she is a menace to ball handlers with her hands everywhere."

Alexia Schaible ('26) 5'9 C
"Alexia is a hard worker and isn't afraid to go in and push posts around.

PHD: Does your program/team have any non-negotiables?

"Non-Negotiables for the team are patience, discipline, communication, and always after the rebounds. If we are not doing those things the game will get sloppy and out of control. Rebounds win games and that is something we have been working on every day!"

PGHD: What will your defense "hang its hat on"?

"Our defense will hang its hat on being DISCIPLINED this year. We have a group of athletes with a lot of length and versatility, they will need to focus on being disciplined to wear down teams and get the steal…. This is a group with a lot of grit that works until the end."

PGHD: Who will be your primary ballhandler this year?

"Jada Ottmar and Emily Manolovits will be our ball handlers this year. Jada is a strong ball handler with great strength and handles. She is a long athlete and sees the floor well. She has varsity experience and hopefully, that will help her stay composed. Emily is an excellent passer--she has a high basketball IQ and knows how to hit the cutters/open players. She is quick and shifty."

PGHD: How did the offseason go for your team/program?

"The offseason went well. We were able to head to Spearfish SD where we played multiple teams from the Nebraska and Wyoming areas. The girls showed their grit playing in these games and gained confidence along with stepping into more of a leadership role. Movement away from the ball is improving. Again, we are in our 3rd year of our co-op so building team chemistry and relationships along the way are huge!"

PGHD: Who are a few of your top players to look out for?

"[player_tooltip player_id='1098602' first='Samantha' last='Greff'] is a versatile athlete she has nice length and is strong. She is a great shooter but can also be very effective in the paint. Samantha has the ability to make things look effortless as she has been around the game for a long time. She was our assists leader last season and isn't our main ball handler. She sees the floor well and understands the game so well, making her an effective player….she had a 1.11 A/TO ratio."

"Jada Ottmar is a nice shooter and has a lot of power when she gets downhill. She can be a versatile defender for us as she has the quickness of a guard but is strong and can be a forward if needed."

"Summer Meyer is a strong player in the paint for us but is able to step out a knock down a three if they are clogging the paint."

"Emily Manolovits has a motor, and she never stops. Defensively she is a pest and is all over the ball and offensively she is a great outside shooter but is also incredibly sneaky always finding the open gap for the shot."

PGHD: Who are a couple of up-and-comers to look out for?

"Mykenzie Winkler (6'1” post) has the chance to have a breakout junior season in the post. She needs to continue gaining confidence and working on her footwork. She has a great high post shot and with the mixture of that and her height could make her be deadly in the paint. I think these next two seasons could be big for her."

"Natalie Wiesinger also has had a quiet sophomore season but I think this junior season we can see her turning the corner and making her presence known on the court both as a post and an outside shooter."

PGHD: Who do you think will be your best rebounders?

"I believe my best rebounders are going to be Summer Meyer and Natalie Wiesinger. Summer is a “workhorse” she will do whatever is needed to secure the rebound for her team. Natalie is quick and long and is able to get into the right position to bring down the board."

PGHD: What are your team goals this year?

"Team goals are ultimately to get to the top of the Region. We have the potential and have been right there the last two seasons. We have multiple girls who have been along for the ride and they know it takes a lot of hard work and they are ready to put that in. They are tired of getting that close to State and missing out. This is a TALENTED group and when they get clicking on all cylinders I feel they can be extremely deadly. The girls want to focus on forcing turnovers, taking high percentage shots, and being a team that can be deadly both offensively and defensively."

PGHD: Who will be your hardest worker?

"At this point, I don't think I can name ONE PERSON as the hardest worker. This is a group of girls that have the common goal of never quitting. They push each other and hold each other accountable."

PGHD: Who are the top teams & players in your Region?

"Region 4 has a lot of nice athletes. Top teams in the Region would be Bowman County, Central McLean, Grant County/Mott-Regent (in no particular order)."

"Washburn and Hettinger/Scranton have the potential to be at the top as well with some of the players returning."

PGHD: Any last comments about the upcoming season?

"Grant County/Mott-Regent is entering its 3rd season as a co-op. We just received our mascot the “Jaguars” and our colors. The girls are excited to represent their communities, and they have been a part of building this program to what it is today. They know this is their time and they are ready to dial in to compete with the best. This is a group of girls that even if they are down they never quit……they are best known for their GRIT! As a coach, I am excited to watch the season unfold. Work in silence, let your success be the noise.”
