On Tuesday, December 3rd, I journeyed to Warren Mott High School as the Marauders (D1) hosted St. Clair Shores Lakeview (D1) for a Macomb Area Conference Non-Conference crossover. The Marauders took a slight lead into the half, but a second-half surge propelled Lakeview to a 55-46 victory. Here are a few performers from both teams who caught my attention Tuesday night.

Rayna led the pack with her hustle, defensive presence, and offensive impact on Tuesday. Her spirited effort ultimately guided the Huskies to victory and grabbed my attention in the process. Rayna pushed the ball with pace down the court in transition, scoring a smooth scoop layup in traffic. She beat her defender with a burst off the dribble and collapsed the help to dish an accurate bounce pass assist. Rayna lobbed an entry pass over the top for an assist, converted an offensive rebound putback, and used a backdoor cut to catch and convert a layup off two feet. Rayna has a soft touch on her floater and scored several layups in the second half. She erupted for 14 points in the second half and led the Huskies with 20 points.

Madison is a center prospect I was very excited to see in person on Tuesday and she demonstrated excellent touch around the basket. Maddie sprinted ahead of the defense to score a transition layup off two and pushed the ball with both hands to score a full-speed layup off the dribble. Maddie showed good footwork when she sealed her defender using a drop step to knock down a left-handed hook shot. She battled to secure an offensive rebound for a putback, was 4 of 4 from the charity stripe, and converted several shots in the paint. Maddie's 16 points were crucial to securing a win for the Huskies.

Kenina is an athletic freshman for the Lakeview program to be excited about. She was a force in the first half, gaining the advantage for multiple offensive rebounds, converting multiple shots around the basket, and energizing her team with a powerful and-one finish through contact. Kenina leaped up to secure a rebound and scored using an effective pivot move. Injury shortened her time on the floor, but Kenina is going to be a major contributor for the Huskies the next few years.

[player_tooltip player_id='1059056' first='Addison' last='Brown'] is a captain on the Warren Mott basketball team and her leadership on both ends helped the team compete to the end on Tuesday. She kept her hands and feet active on defense, producing several steals, and showed great effort pursuing 50/50 balls. Addison beat her defender twice using a shot-fake crossover dribble and completed the play using a nifty spin move with a left-handed finish. She drove hard into contact to earn free throws and buried a wing 3. Addison will be a key contributor for the Mauraders this winter.

Niah sparked the Marauders offense with her efficiency from the free-throw line and impact on the defensive end. Niah split defenders with her dribble to cause fouls and converted 10 of 11 shots from the charity stripe; she added a smooth perimeter jumper from beyond the arc. Niah created scoring opportunities by making unselfish passes and pushing the ball in transition. Her defensive awareness and pressure caused four steals in the first half. Niah will be a key guard to watch at Warren Mott this winter.
