This year's rendition was no exception. Per usual, a number of teams from both North and South Carolina converged on the home of the Bearcats for the three-day showcase and both the main and auxiliary gyms were utilized.

While there were, once again, a large number of noteworthy performances from this year's Winborn Showcase, there were six that stood out that we felt were particularly deserving of recognition. Here are those six.

Mayes' Airport assembling has had positive fortunes as of late at the Winborn Showcase. The Eagles began this year's event with an emphatic win over 1A Bethune-Bowman and followed that up with another win over Westminster Catawba. The margin of victory was 52-45 and Mayes led all scorers for the Eagles with 14 points. Standing at 5-foot-8, Mayes is able to give a team productive minutes either at the two in the backcourt or as a four. She first played at the high school level as an eighth grader in the junior varsity level before ascending to varsity status. Mayes is one of three seniors on this season's Airport rendition. The win over Westminster Catawba gave Airport five consecutive victories at Winborn matchups.

What is in store for Fore in 2024-25? What was in store was a 26-point performance for the Westminster Catawba junior in what was a tough contest with 4A Airport. It may have resulted in a 52-45 win for the Eagles, but Fore kept Westminster Catawba in the game from start to finish. Fore shares team captaincy duties for this year's rendition of her team. With regularity, she managed to draw contact and find herself at the free throw line. Rebounding is another area of her game that she excels in along with collecting her fair share of steals as a defender. A product of the NC Gems program, she led by example as a team co-captain should.

The play of Waters-Inman has been a main reason as to why White Knoll has already surpassed its six-win total from 2023-24. The Timberwolves put together a dominant performance on the second day of the Winborn with a 55-24 victory over another 5A team in Indian Land. Waters-Inman would score 13 points. She likely would have had more if not for an injury she sustained in the latter half of the game. Her ability to play as either a shooting guard or as a small forward makes her great to put on the wing. Waters-Inman is also a gifted defender and rebounder making her a double-double possibility on a consistent basis.

This year's Winborn schedule featured a pair of games for 5A Riverside. One was against 4A A.C. Flora and another was against 4A Marvin Ridge from North Carolina. In the matchup with the Falcons, Garrido's superb guard play keyed the Warriors to its seventh victory of the season. She tallied 18 points to lead all scorers. Fusing together skill with veteran instincts, she will see a defense and find a way to the rim. Garrido also knows when to score and when to pass, can put herself in position to corral rebounds and an create additional possessions for her team with the defense she plays.

Rock Hill ran its record at this year's Winborn Showcase to 2-0 following what Hollis got done on Friday evening. After the Bearcats routed Independence in its first contest of this year's showcase, Hollis and her 21 points made a massive difference in Rock Hill's lopsided victory over another 5A assembling in Greenville. She spearheaded the early efforts for the Bearcats in particular. Hollis stands at 5-foot-8 and has shown herself to be every bit as effective a rebounder as she is a scorer. Points-wise, she can put crooked numbers on a scoreboard from anywhere on the court and her ability to play the two and the three can make her effective in the wing.

Draughn and her 4A A.C. Flora team was locked in what was the game of the day against 5A Riverside – in what was a rematch of last season's 4A state championship game. Even though the Warriors earned the victory once again, Draughn still put forth a winning effort having scored 15 points. The 5-foot-6 guard understands the art of not only scoring but also rebounding. When one watches Draughn on the court, one word comes to mind – playmaker. Many of those plays are made either on defense or when she has the ball in her hands and finds one of her open teammates.
