The 2024-25 season is now more than a month removed from Opening Day (Nov 23). For some players and teams, several games are required in order for them to find their identities and rhythm. For others, they come out the gate scorching hot.

Here are some notable players who have gotten off to excellent starts from an individual standpoint

[player_tooltip player_id='828810' first='Caris' last='Dale'] | Farmington | 2026

Before the season started, Dale was seen as a breakout candidate. This meant Dale was a player to keep eyes on, in terms of becoming a reliable option. To this point in her junior year, Dale has averaged 12.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.6 steals per game. What's more, Dale is shooting 46 percent overall, which includes 21 treys made at a 36 percent clip.

[player_tooltip player_id='1218192' first='Amy' last='Salazar'] | Grants | 2025

Leading the way for the Pirates is [player_tooltip player_id='1218192' first='Amy' last='Salazar'], a two-way play-maker. In eight games played, the senior forward is averaging 11.4 points -- on 50 percent shooting -- with 4.4 rebounds and 2.6 steals. Salazar has done a great job generating relief point around the basket and competes every possession.

[player_tooltip player_id='642722' first='Joy' last='Hunt'] | Centennial | 2025

Hunt continues to solidify herself as one of the better front-court players in the State. As of now, Hunt is averaging 11.5 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor. On top of that, the 5'10" senior is posting 5.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game for Centennial.

[player_tooltip player_id='888493' first='Jacqueline' last='Aguayo'] | Deming | 2025

So far Aguayo has been stellar for the Wildcats, putting up 19.6 points per game with 14 total made three-pointers, posting 47/41 shooting splits. However, the senior is more than just a shooter. In addition to the high scoring output, Aguayo is also averaging 4.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 4.4 steals and 1.0 block.

[player_tooltip player_id='458558' first='Jessica' last='Roberts'] | Organ Mountain | 2025

Roberts, the no. 1 option for the Knights, is a crafty lefty shooting-guard shouldering a heavy workload. Roberts is the only player on Organ Mountain's roster to average double-figures, putting up a very respectable 16.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='391121' first='Monique' last='Sena'] | West Mesa | 2025

Sena is a fundamentally sound back-court player, who in 10 games played, is playing outstanding basketball. The senior point-guard is averaging a commanding 17.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 3.0 steals per game. Moreover, Sena has registered four Double-Doubles for the Mustangs thus far in 2024-25.

[player_tooltip player_id='648227' first='Sofia' last='Herrera'] | Las Cruces | 2026

Herrera, a junior transfer from Organ Mountain, has been fantastic for Las Cruces thus far. In 11 games played, Herrera has given the Bulldawgs all-around steady play. The multi-level scorer is averaging 10.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 4.2 steals per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='648236' first='Jalysa' last='Hines'] | Volcano Vista | 2026

Like the aforementioned Dale from Farmington, Hines was viewed as a breakout candidate for the 2024-25 season. And so far, the play from Hines, had yielded that very outcome. In seven games played during her junior campaign, the combo-guard has posted 11.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 4.9 steals per game for the Hawks.

*Statistics via MaxPreps checked on 12/29/24*

The 2024-25 season is now more than a month removed from Opening Day (Nov 23). For some players and teams, several games are required in order for them to find their identities and rhythm. For others, they come out the gate scorching hot.
