[player_tooltip player_id='1142666' first='Olivia' last='Nixt'] of Earlham High School shows her determination and heart, each and every game that she goes out to compete. Last night in her team's 3 point victory over Pleasantville, Nixt handled her matchups on both ends, leading to a convincing stat line when the final buzzer sounded. She capped off the evening with 19 points (8-12), including going 2-3 from behind the arc, while she brought in 7 rebounds as well, leading her team in that category. When you find out that Nixt is a guard that stands at 5'6, you start to understand how she plays. She competes with a chip on her shoulder mentality and she see's a lot of success because of that or at least that was the case last night.

The steady progression that [player_tooltip player_id='777233' first='Romey' last='Croatt'] of Waukee NW High School has shown this season already is nothing short of impressive. Croatt is slowing making a bigger name for herself, every night she competes and that is not something I can say for most at the high school level on a consistent basis. This is a PG who understands pace of play, how to hold tempo within the game, she has a three level scoring ability with a great understanding of space and time, she can facilitate for others at a higher rate than most, and she is very crafty when she needs to be in select situations. Last night against Johnston they may of lost but it was not due to any lack of effort. That's for sure.

When we touch on Iowa City Regina, it's usually because of one of their two stars but their main producer last night in their narrow victory against Mid Prairie was CG - [player_tooltip player_id='1142718' first='Caitlin' last='Martin']. Martin led the regals in points /rebounds with 16 and 12, recording a nice double-double for the Regals. This showing was important for a few reasons. I think it shows that the Regals are a little deeper than most opponents might think and that they have some others who can really do some impactful things throughout a ball game. If this group can take this momentum and build on it from here, I'm sure we will be seeing them once again at the State Tournament in a few short weeks.

We always try to spread out the love and cover as many athletes as possible throughout the year but sometimes you have someone that just continues to show up, over and over. Well that's what we have here with [player_tooltip player_id='510277' first='Izzy' last='Eisbach'] of Nodaway Valley. We mentioned Izzy last week for the season she has quietly put together but last night she recorded 51 Points. That's the most I've seen scored in the state of Iowa on the high school floor over my years. Audi Crooks definitely had some performances like this on score sheet but I'm not exactly sure if she had a better stat line. In general though, 51 is a number everyone can get behind. It came on about 35 shots and that's a respectable percentage. This is a D2 prospect for a reason and this season she is demonstrating to everyone watching, why that is the case.

The Le Mars Bulldogs fell short last night in their contest on the road but that didn't stop [player_tooltip player_id='1142536' first='Aubree' last='Leusink'] from having a memorable evening. Leusink, a 5'6 SG, scored a team high 18 points on 50% shooting from the field and 50% shooting from behind the arc. As well as grabbing a handful of rebounds in the mean time. The Bulldogs have won a few games up until this point and they are still looking to get a few more under their belt. Which is definitely possible if Leusink keeps putting together nights like these and everyone else can follow suit.
