From the first time we ranked Minnesota's class of 2026, we felt strongly that [player_tooltip player_id='344333' first='Cail' last='Jahnke'] of St. Michael-Albertville was going to be a player. With length and athleticism and bounce, we knew it was only a matter of time before Jahnke would live up to the top 5 billing we gave her back in the fall of 2022. Today, the 6'2 guard/wing is one of the state's most dangerous players. She's also a 1,000-point scorer whose trajectory on the road to Division 1 is right on track. Every week we celebrate the milestones of the previous seven days. Today we'll start with a tall tale of about Cail's milestone as we recap the Week That Was #10.

MILESTONES

Patience is everything when it comes to evaluating prospects, especially when they are long and lanky and have yet to get all of the moving parts pulling in the same direction. That was Jahnke back in 8th grade. Cail's growth spurts seemed to never end, and it was a challenge for her coordination to keep up That's basic physiology. She found her way into a star-studded STMA lineup for a few cameo appearances and an average of 2 points per game. As a freshman, playing alongside future Ms. Basketball and current University of South Carolina star Tessa Johnson, Cail worked her way up the food chain. She finished 6th on the team in scoring at 7.4 ppg.

As a sophomore she had the 2nd highest per game average at 14.8 behind current Seton Hall guard Ja'Kahla Craft. Now a junior, Jahnke tops the Knights in offensive production at 18.3 ppg. Last week she reached the 1,000 career points mark playing a schedule that is as tough as any in Minnesota girls basketball. Ranked #3 in the junior class, Cail holds offers from an array of excellent college programs but has yet to make a firm decision. Stay tuned.

Of course Jahnke wasn't the only milestone maker during week #12.

[player_tooltip player_id='502551' first='Brooklin' last='Hinze'] of St. Clair became the Cyclones' all-time scoring leader by bettering the mark of 1,732 set by Hailey (Embacher) Anderson. Hinze is a dynamic guard with fast feet, quick hands and an attacker's mindset. The 2026 prospect plays for the [program_tooltip program_id='712699' first='Minnesota' last='Rise']

[player_tooltip player_id='902452' first='Aubrie' last='Klug'] of Caledonia scored her 1,000th career point on Thursday at Chatfield. At the same time – within a minute or two apparently – her brother Reid reached 1,000 on their home court in Caledonia. As icing on the Klug cake, Warriors coach Scott Sorenson recorded his 400th career victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='498663' first='Madison' last='Ohm'] of Bryon also reached the 1,000-point mark doing so on Saturday in a 62-43 win at Northfield. Ohm is an elite talent ranked in the top 20 in the Prep Girls Hoops class of 2026. She'll play this spring for [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] 17U EYBL.

[player_tooltip player_id='1048130' first='Izabelle' last='Keaveny'] of Mayer Lutheran recorded her 1,000th career point on Friday in an 88-38 win over West Lutheran. The junior guard, who is averaging 17.1 points per game, reached that milestone just two weeks after her twin sister [player_tooltip player_id='1048125' first='Clara' last='Keaveny'] did it.

[player_tooltip player_id='453729' first='Megan' last='Thorfinnson'] of Minnewaska also reached the 1,000 plateau during week #10. The 5'10 point guard, who was an All-West Central Conference Selection last season, is a top-100 prospect who played AAU for [program_tooltip program_id='713021' first='West' last='Central United'].

[player_tooltip player_id='481473' first='Breanna' last='Knight'] of Cambridge-Isanti scored a season-high 36 points on Friday in a win over Zimmerman. The 2025 point guard had 29 points Thursday against Big Lake. That outburst of offense enabled Knight to top 1,000 points for her high school career.

Montana Carsten of Wadena-Deer Creek scored 23 points in a win over Verndale last week to reach 1,000 for her career. The 5'6 guard is a Park Region All-Conference selection, a do-it-all contributor who has helped WDC to a record of 11-6.

Ava Carlson of undefeated New London-Spicer (18-0) is our final 1,000-point scorer of the week. The senior reached the milestone on Friday in the Wildcats' win over Rockford.

[player_tooltip player_id='362575' first='Callie' last='Oakland'] of St. Croix Lutheran reached a milestone that few players can claim – 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds for her career. The 2026 post, ranked #13 in the junior class, hauled down 13 boards on Friday against New Life Academy to top the 1,000 rebounds mark. Oakland bettered 1,000 career points nearly a year ago.

[player_tooltip player_id='252380' first='Kendra' last='Harvey'] of Byron became her school's all-time leader in steals with 366, a mark set by former Bear Tina Cordes that stood for more than 30 years. Ranked 25th among Minnesota seniors, Harvey is bound for the University of North Dakota in the fall.

One milestone quest came to an end last week as [player_tooltip player_id='1106575' first='Zadi' last='Farmer'] saw her consecutive free throw run halted at 39. The 8th grader from Jackson County Central did not miss an attempt at the foul line from Dec. 17 through Jan. 24. Zadi's team is still rolling, though. After snapping a six-game losing streak on Dec. 28, the Huskies have posted nine straight victories.

TOP PERFORMANCES

We saw some nice individual performances during week #10 as we watched a dozen or so games live and online. The week began at St. Catherine University in St. Paul at the MLK Day tournament. (Click here to read coverage of that event.) It concluded at Cretin-Derham Hall on Saturday for the Breakdown Collision at CDH. (Read our report).

Tuesday's Wayzata win at Hopkins, their first on the Royals' home floor in more than 20 years, was a thriller. Friday's meeting between [player_tooltip player_id='252379' first='Addison' last='Mack'] of Minnehaha Academy and [player_tooltip player_id='252381' first='Maddyn' last='Greenway'] of Providence Academy did not disappoint, either. It might be the last time Addi and Maddyn face each other in high school if the teams don't meet in the Class 2A state tournament. And a trip to Benilde-St. Margaret's for a Thursday meeting with New Prague offered up another brilliant performance by a resurgent [player_tooltip player_id='208184' first='Zahara' last='Bishop'], the Seton Hall commit who scored 15 field goals for 35 points.

The primary reason we went to BSM was to check in live on New Prague sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='595199' first='Maya' last='Kilian'], a top 20 prospect in the class of 2027. Maya dealt with injuries over a period of several months but appears to be back to her former self now. The Trojans were overmatched against an athletic BSM squad, as Bishop, [player_tooltip player_id='296523' first='Kendall' last='McGee'], [player_tooltip player_id='498661' first='Pressley' last='Watkins'] and company controlled the contest from start to finish. Kilian herself looked good, though.

Maya made three triples and scored 15 points, pretty much even with her season numbers. The 6'1 guard/wing is averaging a double-double with 15.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per game while shooting 52.5% from two-point range and 36% beyond the arc. She's long, fluid and athletic and is only starting to reveal what is to come. Several regional mid-major programs have expressed interest in Maya's services and offers are sure to follow.

New Prague is very quietly having a solid season with a record of 12-4. That puts them in the hunt in Section 1AAAA where 13-3 Rochester Mayo leads the way ahead of 14-4 Owatonna, 12-4 New Prague and traditional power Lakeville North at 9-8. The Trojans are led by Kilian and seniors [player_tooltip player_id='595556' first='Katherine' last='Boulanger'] (Wartburg) and [player_tooltip player_id='459646' first='Taylor' last='Hemann'] (NIACC). The return of 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='773406' first='Lily' last='Schoenecker'] three games ago will definitely provide a boost for New Prague. The gifted guard, who plays summer ball for [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] Elite, suffered a torn ACL in 8th grade soccer and reinjured it in January of 2024. Lily looked right at home on Thursday. Others to keep an eye on include 2027 forward [player_tooltip player_id='764192' first='Elle' last='Neiderhiser'] and 2026 guard Ashlee Nelson.

PLAYER TO WATCH

We didn't see New Life Academy sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='759866' first='Samantha' last='Bennett'] drop 9 triples on Mounds Park Academy last week in just 22 minutes of action to break her own team record of 8 in a single game, but it did not come as a surprise. Bennett has quickly established a reputation as an outstanding distance shooter. Last year she made 75 threes on 35% shooting from beyond the arc. This year she has 51 triples through 15 games and is averaging 46% from three. That's despite opponents game planning to stop the 5'9 guard any which way they can. Bennett is averaging 14 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Class A Eagles, who are part of the Skyline Conference.
