1A Championship Preview

On February 28th the girls 1A season comes to a close as the Joseph City Wildcats takes on the Fort Thomas Apaches for the 1A State title at Veteran's Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix. This will be the second matchup between what has been the two best teams in the 1A classification all season. The first game was won by Joseph City on their home court with a decisive fourth quarter being the difference. The Apaches look to get revenge in the championship game.   Here I take a look at some of the key players in this upcoming game    Audrey is a fluid athlete who is very good in the open court. Once she gets going downhill, she is hard to stop. She is a good finisher close to the basket. She also has the skill to step out and shoot from the perimeter.     Lorenzo is a quick guard who can shoot the ball with range. She has very good change of direction and is a good passer. Offensive she is constantly in attack mode with her quickness.     Amber is player that is effective on both offense and defense. She has good form on her perimeter jump shot that extends out to the three-point line. She is very active on defense with her length and energy.     Benally is a good offensive player that can get her shot off with a variety of moves. She is a good ball handler that has shooting range that extends well beyond the three-point line.     Gabrielle has a good feel for the game and is smooth off the dribble. She is not sped up easily by the defense.  She also has the ability to shoot the ball from the outside.     Johnson is a very good athlete who knows how to use that to her advantage. She has a quick first step when attacking the paint and her length makes her hard to contain. On defense she has active hands and will block shots.     April is the enforcer for her team. She's a good athlete and likes to operate from the mid-range in on offense. She is physical and absorbs contact well. She is a good rebounder and boxes out the opposition very well.
