Division 2 Predictions

The postseason starts this coming Tuesday with Regional Quarterfinal games around the state. Today, I'll release the brackets I've made with my reasoning. Today, we'll look at D2 and work down to D5 by Monday.   Sectional 1   REGIONAL QUARTERFINALS   In the Quarterfinal matchups, I have New Richmond over Merrill, Medford over Wausau East, and River Falls over Ashland in the top half.   At the bottom, Green Bay East over Antigo and New London over Green Bay Southwest in the 7-10 game.   REGIONAL SEMIFINALS   Rice Lake should ease past New Richmond.   Menomonie should get past Rhinelander.   Mosinee's guard play should be enough to get past Medford, but that game could be interesting.   In the 2-7 game, Lakeland should get by River Falls.   In the bottom half, I have Shawano breezing past Green Bay East.   I have No. 5 Fox Valley Lutheran beating Waupaca.   I have chalk holding the rest of the way with Luxemburg-Casco and Marinette heading through.   REGIONAL FINALS   Rice Lake should win the rubber match with Meonomonie with their talent in the frontcourt. The Mustangs have shown they can compete with the Warriors, but I see Rice Lake going through to Sectionals.   Lakeland has won both games this season against Mosinee by one possession. However, I see the experience shining through for the Thunderbirds and edging out a third win against Mosinee.   I have chalk holding in the bottom half with Shawano and Marinette meeting in a Sectional Semifinal.   SECTIONAL SEMIFINALS   I have Rice Lake going through and avenging their Regional Final loss last season and going through to a Sectional Championship Game.   In the bottom half, I have Shawano going through and meeting the Warriors in Mosinee for a chance to head to the Resch Center.   SECTIONAL FINALS   I feel the frontcourt talent for Rice Lake will generate enough offense, win the rebounding battle, and send the Warriors to Green Bay.   Sectional 2   REGIONAL QUARTERFINALS   I have Slinger, Port Washington, Plymouth, and Brookfield Central punching their tickets to the Regional Semifinals.   REGIONAL SEMIFINALS   Beaver Dam should handle Slinger.   Ashwaubenon has the tools to beat a plucky Menasha team.   Waupun-Port Washington will be an intriguing "grind-it-out" type game, but I see the guard play for Waupun sending them through.   West De Pere should breeze past Plymouth.   Brookfield Central-New Berlin Eisenhower is the most likely game for a No. 1 to lose in a Regional Semifinal, but I'll take Eisenhower.   I have Milwaukee Lutheran over Milwaukee Vincent.   I have No. 6 Grafton's guard frustrating Waukesha West.   I have Cedarburg over New Berlin West.   REGIONAL FINALS   Beaver Dam and West De Pere should win their Regional Final games.   I have Eisenhower breezing past Milwaukee Lutheran.   I have the No. 6 Black Hawks upsetting Cedarburg in their third matchup of the season.   SECTIONAL SEMIFINALS   I have Beaver Dam's talent edging out West De Pere.   I have Grafton continuing their run and beating Eisenhower.   SECTIONAL FINALS   I have the Black Hawks lose to Beaver Dam, who punches their ticket to Green Bay.   Sectional 3   REGIONAL QUARTERFINALS   I have La Crosse Logan over Tomah, DeForest over Baraboo, Reedsburg over Portage, Fort Atkinson over Jefferson, Elkhorn over Monroe, and Mount Horeb over McFarland.   REGIONAL SEMIFINALS   West Salem should handle Logan.   Onalaska-Sauk Prairie is a toss-up, but I'll take Onalaska on their floor.   DeForest can be a frustrating team to play against, and they should beat Sparta.   La Crosse Central should have enough talent to beat Reedsburg.   Edgewood should get past Fort Atkinson.   I'll take Monona Grove to beat Delavan-Darien, but that could get interesting.   I have Elkhorn over No. 3 Stoughton in an upset.   Milton should take care of Mount Horeb in their gym.   REGIONAL FINALS   West Salem should beat Onalaska.   I have La Crosse Central narrowly beating a solid DeForest team.   Edgewood should take care of Monona Grove.   I have Milton beating a streaking Elkhorn team that just got healthy.   SECTIONAL SEMIFINALS   West Salem has the tools and experience to get past La Crosse Central.   In a game that's more competitive than people, I have Edgewood beating Milton.   SECTIONAL FINALS   The backcourt talent for Edgewood will be too much for West Salem to handle, and the Crusaders get back to Green Bay.   Sectional 4   REGIONAL QUARTERFINALS   I have Waterford, Martin Luther, and Racine Park winning their Regional Quarterfinal Games.   REGIONAL SEMIFINALS   In the top half, I have chalk holding with Wauwatosa East, Wisconsin Lutheran, Pius XI, and Whitefish Bay all advancing.   I have Union Grove getting past Waterford, Greendale pulling a No. 5 over No. 4 upset over Burlington.   Greenfield and Whitnall should also advance to the Regional Finals.   REGIONAL FINALS   I have Tosa East, Whitefish Bay, Union Grove, and Whitnall advancing to Sectionals.   SECTIONAL SEMIFINALS   Tosa East's size in the front court should help them get by Whitefish Bay.   In a rematch of last season's Sectional Semifinal, I have Whitnall avenging their loss to Union Grove and advancing to a Sectional Title Game.   SECTIONAL FINALS   I selected Tosa East, returning to Green Bay after beating Whitnall at Whitefish Bay.
