Sensational Seventh Graders

Every once and awhile there is a seventh grader who is skilled enough to be a varsity contributor. These girls below are having a huge impact on their team's success and will be future stars in North Dakota.    Piper is a special talent for the Huskies and is going to have an outstanding high school career. She is an exceptional shooter and will be a major three-point threat as she grows and matures. Piper is a good point guard and has good athleticism. She is being relied upon heavily to handle the rock and is doing a good job of learning the speed of the varsity game. She is a dedicated athlete and one who takes the offseason serious. Piper is going to be one of the best players in the state.     Kadence is starting as a seventh grader for the Jaguars. She is an excellent defender with a really long reach. Her anticipation and reliability on the defensive end is extremely impressive. She is an important piece to Northern Cass's press-break, being the primary inbounds girl. She is able to calmly reverse the ball in the press and make the right pass to get her team going on the offensive end. She has great vision and all her passes are on time and on target. Kadence has all of the fundamentals to be have an outstanding high school career.     Jaya is a relentless worker and someone who has a passion to be the best. She has earned her way into Shanley's starting lineup and has been playing great basketball as of late. Jaya has scored in double-figures in five of Shanley's last six games. She is becoming more comfortable with the speed and physicality of the varsity game. She is going to be critical for Shanley to make a deep season run into a hopeful state tournament birth.     Keslee is a great young player out in Tioga and a big reason they are playing so well this season. I reached out to Coach DeMoe and at the time Keslee was averaging 12.4 points per game, 3.1 steals, 2.4 assists, and 4 rebounds. Those are incredible statistics for someone so young. She is a long, athletic player and has all the pieces to keep getting better. Keslee is going to have a terrific high school career and will have Tioga competing for District, Region, and possibly State titles.     McCall is an outstanding young player for Garrison. She is their starting point guard and has potential to be great. She moves extremely well and has a great burst of speed. She is a steady ball-handler and makes great decisions with the ball. She is a threat from deep outside the three-point line, which makes defending her very difficult. McCall is going to be a star in Class B.     Leila has the athletic ability to be a great player and there is a reason Nedrose has her starting at such a young age. She doesn't get fazed when opposing teams press her. She has great patience and doesn't pick up the ball until she has a pass to a teammate. This sounds simple but it is a problem many high school players experience against press defenses. She shows she is an aggressive player by not shying away from diving on loose balls. Leila is going to gain confidence in her offensive game as she matures.
