Little Rock Central hosted Cabot in their second-straight home game and on Valentine's Day. The Central Lady Tigers were looking to sweep the season series against a conference foe for the second straight game. The Cabot Lady Panthers were looking to be .500 in conference play.

Recap

From the opening tip, Central was in control. Their defense would not let Cabot have a good look and their offense could not miss. The Panthers had a lot of trouble taking care of the ball. They did not have many opportunities to create a good look in the half court, only scoring 3 points in the 1st quarter. The Tigers scored 20, which was the same amount as they had scored in the first half against Bryant on Tuesday.

Cabot continued to struggle in the 2nd quarter, heading into the locker room with 8 points. The Tigers continued to have success on the offensive end, scoring points off of turnovers and hitting timely shots from beyond. The score was 34-8 at the end of the half.

The second half was still not kind to the Panthers. Cabot could not find any sort of rhythm offensively, nor could they stop Central from running out in transition and scoring at will. The final score was in favor of Central, 65-24.

[player_tooltip player_id='465505' first='Ky' last='Wilson'] recently eclipsed 1,000 career points in the game against Bryant, and she added to her scoring total last night.

Wilson posted 20 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 steals. The senior went 3/5 from 3-point land, knocking down each long-ball off the catch. She also ran in transition, scoring multiple buckets and getting herself to the free throw line.

On the other end, Wilson was reading plays like a book. She knew where Cabot wanted to go with the ball each time, and she intercepted each pass and took it the other way.

[player_tooltip player_id='465505' first='Ky' last='Wilson'] has had a legendary career with the Tigers. 1,000 career points is quite an accomplishment, but she is far from finished.

[player_tooltip player_id='884753' first='E'lyse' last='Williams'] had another solid all-around performance for the Tigers. She did not have her best game as far as scoring is concerned, but she made winning plays all over the court.

The junior guard finished with 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 steals. She has become a reliable playmaker over the course of the season, as she knows just how to feed the hot-hand. All of her points were from her off-ball movement. She cut hard to the basket and made herself available for a pass down low.

Williams' defense was also remarkable. Like Wilson, she jumped out in front of passes, knowing exactly where the Panthers wanted to go with the basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id='884753' first='E'lyse' last='Williams'] continues to be an underrated player on this Tiger team. Her excellent play on the defensive end will continue to help Central as they look to make a postseason run.

The Tigers' floor general had a nice all-around performance against the Lady Panthers.

[player_tooltip player_id='467464' first='Chloey-Rei' last='Brown'] put up 7 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals. She ravaged the Cabot offense, stripping ball-handlers with ease and poking away passes. There was not a loose ball that Brown was not on top of.

With as many times as Brown ran out on the fastbreak, she was bound to find herself in a position to score. She finished at the rim when she had the chance, even logging an and-one in transition. Brown also passed well, especially in the half court. Of course, that is not much of a surprise, but she threaded the needle nicely against Cabot.

[player_tooltip player_id='467464' first='Chloey-Rei' last='Brown'] continues to have games where she takes over on the defensive end. Several colleges have already offered the senior point guard and they will be pleased with her two-way production this season.

Taylor Day-Davis- Like Wilson, Taylor Day-Davis recently surpassed the 1,000-point milestone. She also eclipsed 500 career rebounds, putting her in elite company as one of the few Tigers to accomplish both in their career. The senior added a bit more to her career totals, posting 8 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists, and 2 steals. She was 2/2 from beyond the arch and 2/2 from the free throw line. Her outside shots were off the catch and she looked hard to stop when she had an in-rhythm look. I was most impressed with her passing, though. She had a no-look assist to go along with multiple passes that looked impossible to reach their target. The senior made sure that she was not the only one on this Tiger team to get going on the offensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='1060888' first='Alexis' last='Montgomery']- Montgomery did not get involved in the scoring category, and I do not think she even attempted a shot. That did not matter though, as she was responsible for at least 10 points from her facilitating. She is Central's primary ball-handler off the bench and she finished with 4 assists. Montgomery kept her eyes up each possession, feeding open shooters and feeding the bigs down low.

[player_tooltip player_id='1183222' first='Rosebella' last='Onyango']- The sophomore center was another Tiger who had a solid all-around outing. She put up 6 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, and 1 block. She was active on both ends of the floor. Most of her scoring came from her off-ball movement, which was either because of running the open-floor in transition or cutting to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='1183242' first='Moriah' last='Bates']- [player_tooltip player_id='1183242' first='Moriah' last='Bates'] has not appeared in many games this season, but the junior got plenty of opportunities to showcase her ability last night. She posted 3 points, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Bates does not hesitate when launching from beyond the arch, but she displayed her best playmaking of the season. She manned the point for the Tigers and she was hitting her teammates with slick passes. Like Day-Davis, some of her passes had no business reaching their destinations.

Based off the score, you can imagine that no one from Cabot found much success throughout the game. However, [player_tooltip player_id='1180576' first='Jayda' last='Cook'], the Panther's freshman starter, had some solid moments in the second half.

Cook finished with 5 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block. One field goal was from the 3-point line, where she knocked down a nice shot from the corner. Her other basket was from a contested layup that she had to work for off a baseline drive.

It is hard to believe that Cook is just a freshman by the way she conducts herself on the court. She plays solid defense and she had a major impact on the boards. 2 of her rebounds came on the offensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='1180576' first='Jayda' last='Cook'] has the potential to be Cabot's cornerstone piece of the future. Keep up with one of the 6A's best freshman talents.

[player_tooltip player_id='1180758' first='Taylor' last='Alkire']- Cabot's starting center had productive moments throughout the night. She had a team-high 6 points and finished second on the team in rebounds with 5. All 5 of those rebounds came on the offensive end. Considering the fact that Central had the size advantage, Alkire held her own. She also managed to keep Central's starting center from logging a rebound on the night.

Review

The Tigers were in complete control of the game from the opening tip to the final buzzer. Cabot worked hard, battling for good shots and for rebounds. The Panthers managed to find a lot of success on the offensive glass, but they had trouble taking care of the basketball and keeping the Tigers from hitting their shots.

The Lady Panthers are still in a decent position to make the 6A playoffs, but they must win more games from here on out to solidify their chance at a postseason spot.

The Lady Tigers continue to roll through their opponents, and barring any disasters, they are in a prime position to contend for a first-round bye.
