<p>On <strong>February 28<sup>th</sup> </strong>the <strong>2025 Girls 1A Championship</strong> game took place at the <strong>Veteran's Memorial Coliseum</strong>. The game had the #1 <strong>Joseph City Wildcats</strong> taking on the #2 <strong>Fort Thomas Apaches</strong>. <strong>Joseph City</strong> was looking to finish the job after finishing as the 1A runner up last season. <strong>Joseph City</strong> controlled the tempo with their matchup zone defense and ability to get out and finish on fast breaks. At the half <strong>Joseph City</strong> was up 35-18. The 2nd half was much of the same as the Wildcats continued to force turnovers that turned into layups. The 4th quarter saw the Apaches return the favor as their defense got their offense going. <strong>Fort Thomas</strong> got within 9 in the final minute but <strong>Joseph City</strong> held them off to capture the title <strong>64-55.</strong></p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Amber was the star of the game as she came out on fire with 18 first half points. She was all over the court on both offense and defense. She got to her mid-range shot often. On defense she was a pest as she collected 7 steals and multiple deflections. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Lorenzo has range that starts as soon as she steps on the court. She didn't shoot much but when she did, she shot at a high percentage. She has a quick release and uses head fakes very well. She finished with a team high 17 points on just 7 shot attempts. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Audrey is a versatile scorer that was all over the place during the game. She uses her length very well once she gets into the paint. She was always on the move by cutting, making it easy for her teammates to find her. On defense she anticipated passes very well. She finished the game with 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Kaylee played a good all-around game despite not shooting as well as she normally does. She flashed the ability to be a very good inside/outside threat with her skill and perimeter shooting. She finished with 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Jesmer played a point forward type of role for the Wildcats and played it very well. She played at a very nice pace while making sure that her teammates got good looks at the basketball. She had some beautiful passes among her 6 assists. She also showed that she could shoot the outside shot when her team needs her to. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">April played a very solid game overall. She showed that she is more than an interior player. She stepped out and hit a three ball. She also played very good defense, limiting the good looks by the opposition in the paint. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Even though Jamie was in foul trouble much of the game she still was able to show her skill and athletic ability. She displayed her ability to slash to the basket as well as hit the pull up jump shot. She also has good timing on blocking shots while on defense. </p>
