Tucson Swarm 17U

I had the privilege of attending practice for the Tucson Swarm club basketball team. This team features multiple prospects who college coaches should try and catch out on the road. I've personally been able to see many of these players in their high school games and club games so the be able to see this side of the players in a practice setting was an opportunity I didn't want to pass up. They are a very well coached team by Coach Justin Delgado and his staff. Thank you to Coach Delgado for allowing me to attend.    Wexler was arguably the best overall prospect at practice. She has a solid frame and a lengthy wingspan. She showed tremendous footwork and speed. Strong passer. Finished well at the basket with both hands. Is very good fundamentally. Handles the ball very well and can dribble into a high percentage mid range shot. Disciplined shot blocker, utilizing her lengthy arms making it difficult for opponents to shoot over. Wexler has made strides in her game and is rising as one of the top 2027 prospects in Southern Arizona. Great academics, high character and a great player.     A strong and physical player. Has very good post footwork. Can get to the paint and finish with a nice step through after getting her opponent off balance. Has a nice skill set and knows how to finish a variety of ways at the basket. Strong on the boards and can quickly get the second chance opportunity. Safo has the frame and size that will attract coaches and the play making ability to keep them interested. Makes great reads while handling the ball and is just as dangerous with her off ball movement.     Medina showed this past high school season she is one of the top two way guards in the state. She has great defensive skill and a strong ability to lead the offense. A very physical player who gets the job done. I've seen a lot of her game play on the court this season and shes impressive every time. To see her leadership and high level of play in a practice setting was great. She held her team accountable, was the example for how the drills needed to be done and led in all areas. Medina is a high impact player who will play at the next level. She will start getting attention this off-season going into her senior year.     An unsigned senior who can be a last minute steal for a program. High intensity player who not only plays at a high level but practices at one as well. Showed off a very consistent mid range shot. Did exceptionally well with finishing at the basket through contact. Barajas can flat out score the ball whether it be knocking down the three ball or finishing the tough shot through contact. Gets right back to applying her tough defensive pressure that leads to turnovers quite often. A very impactful player on either side of the ball.     Mesa Benedictine got a steal with their recent commitment from Brown. Very quick, was able to slice between two defenders and score the layup before they could close the gap. She has a very quick release on her shot and is a mid to deep range specialist. Brown is a hustler and will put it all on the line to put her team in a winning position. Very strong on the defensive side. Brown is a dual sport athlete who was very sought after for both basketball and flag football. She will attend Mesa Benedictine and play both sports.     In my recent viewings of Webb she is starting to become a pretty solid "three and D" type player. She is a strong willed defender who guards the length of the court. Webb battles through the physicality and will make plays. She does well in transition and has good awareness on the court. Has a very quick release and shoots well off the pass. Has a good handle on the ball and can run the offense. Webb worked well in the pick and roll and showed some good passing skills. This will be a big off season for Webb as she will get ready to take on a big role this upcoming season for the Sunnyside Blue Devils.
