We're back! I was torn side to side on who, if anyone to cut from the 2nd team. In turn, I waffled and went with six of VT's top talents. Drop in and get a sense of some of VT's most prolific scorers and formidable defenders. Let's go!

[player_tooltip player_id='975815' first='Maysa' last='Long'], 5'10 F - Mount Mansfield Union H.S. Class of 2027

Hands down the best true forward in the state, Maysa is a force to be reckoned with. It was constant double-doubles from Long all year long with her back to the basket proficiency, touch from any angle around the rim, footwork, and fervent hustle. Her post-work is full or drop steps and up-and-unders, and whenever she seems to be on a tightrope, she finagles her way with another pivot into open space for a clean look. The hook shot from either hand is crisp, as is the passing + timing sense on the block; the ball doesn't stick and she's looking for cutters + shooters as much as she is for a shot. Otherwise, it's constant hustle; her defense might her best skill. Ultimate rim protection, running the floor hard both ways, rotating hard into help, and tracking every rebound and loose ball. An absolute terror with a motor.

[player_tooltip player_id='645688' first='Peyton' last='Guay'], 5'8 G - West Rutland School Class of 2025

Guay has more than made her mark. Peyton did so with a sincere attack mindset that was more about winning than record breaking. She made transition plays constantly out of the various defenses of WRS, often causing the initial disruption which led to the TO. Yet she didn't force the action. In the halfcourt, Guay settled and used her PG sensibilities to slice defenses with her crisp handle, 3pt shooting off the bounce or the catch, inside finishing, and balanced distribution. Moreover, she excels off the ball too. Smart relocation, impeccable cutting, and always available as a release valve. A multi-faceted player, 4x D4 State Champ, and VT's all-time leader scorer at 2,279. Quite the legacy.

[player_tooltip player_id='645601' first='Sabine' last='Brueck'], 5'8 G - North Country Union H.S. Class of 2025

One of the best defenders in the state is without a doubt Sabine. I mean, there's no letup in Brueck's air-tight on-ball defense. Her hawk-like wingspan, athleticism and anticipation caused ample disruption all game long as she took opponents out of their comfort zone relentlessly. Moreover, her speed provided her the ability to rotate quickly into gaps as help, jump the pass and get out in transition for bunches of 2s, or recover on the ball for tough contests. There's no way out. In turn, plenty of transition offense. She's a natural 2, but she was tasked with organizing and creating for this young bunch in the halfcourt. She did an admirable job, showcasing patience, smart exploitation of the D, and a 3 ball to stretch it all out. A reliable leader and two-way presence.

Adrianna Hever, 5'9 W - St. Johnsbury Academy Class of 2025

The more I saw from Hever the more I liked. Adrianna came with an attack mindset routinely, making nice plays on both ends. Her defensive instincts out of the zone, and ability to adapt from a packed in zone to a higher pressure one, often caught my eye. She moved tightly, always where necessary, and saw skip passes and/or cutters early to break them up. Plus, she rebounded hard, a necessity from those low wings in the 2-3. Offensively, she brought that same energy. She showed adaptability as a wing, elbow, or short corner player depending on the opponent and flourished with spot-up shooting, limited-dribble drives against closeouts, and smart movement to bend the defenses until they broke. Her two-way efforts often paced St. J as St. J paced D1 for nearly 3 months. Reliable.

[player_tooltip player_id='576153' first='Alexa' last='Rabidoux'], 5'8 G - Essex H.S. Class of 2025

One of the peskiest two-way guards, Rabidoux is a bother. Lexi will pick you up early and ensure you're having a tough time with her active hands, quick footwork and length. And when she's off the ball, she's always tracking into help position, reading the next action, and seeing the game one step ahead. In turn, I saw lots of offense she muddied up and rebounds collected. Offensively, Rabidoux played orchestrator. She organized a relatively young group around her and found them in their sweet spots, enhancing their production through her play. Plus, she got her own with her aggressive driving and jumper from range. A two-way combo-guard that will give you everything.

[player_tooltip player_id='496160' first='Macie' last='Stagner'], 5'8 G - Springfield H.S. Class of 2025

Springfield's all-time leading scorer at 1,877, [player_tooltip player_id='496160' first='Macie' last='Stagner']. Stagner's offensive role was paramount for Springfield, acting as the primary source of offense. With her vision through multiple defenders (which were often thrown at her), 3-level scoring touch and sheer will, Stagner provided all she could. Passes thread into shooting pockets for good looks inside and out, presses were broken solo through savvy awareness of the cracks, and buckets were collected all over the floor with crisp touch. Her 3pt shot and pull-up around the elbows sharpened as she saw plenty of zone defenses, and her FTs were reliable. An aware defender too, she sniffed out plenty of passes and helped hard to force tough decisions. An offensive juggernaut with sound defense to boot.
