The Central Valley High School Bears continued their historic run with a dominant 78-64 victory over Meadowdale in a battle between two teams already bound for the Tacoma Dome. CVHS, boasting one of the most complete rosters in the state, proved once again why they are the team to beat. Meadowdale, sitting at 16-7, was looking to make a statement, but the Bears' relentless pressure and deep scoring attack proved too much to handle. As has become routine, Central Valley controlled the game from the tip, scoring quickly and setting the tone with their aggressive full-court defense. Meadowdale, to their credit, didn't back down and put up a fight throughout the contest. However, the Bears' balanced attack and ability to generate points in transition allowed them to pull away in the second half, securing another convincing win on their path to the Tacoma Dome.

The standout performer of the night, [player_tooltip player_id='943344' first='Aspen' last='Henry'], wasted no time making her presence known. She started the game on fire, going a perfect three-for-three from beyond the arc in the opening quarter. With CVHS already featuring multiple college prospects, it's easy for individual performances to be overshadowed, but Aspen made sure that wasn't the case. Her ability to stretch the floor and contribute defensively played a pivotal role in the victory. When asked what makes this team so special, she emphasized their unselfish style of play: “Everyone has a role and everyone slides into their own role. We like to use Brynn on the inside because she has the size, and then Eden, Gabbie, and Keana like to dribble the ball. When they do, people crash, and they can find me on the outside.” When asked to describe her game in one word, she simply responded: “Hustle.” Her performance on the court backed up that statement.

Whenever she enters the contest, the energy shifts in Central Valley's favor. Known for her relentless defensive pressure and ability to impact the game on both ends, Domebo plays her role to perfection in a system built on selflessness.
Few players in the state can match [player_tooltip player_id='751531' first='Keana' last='Gosney']'s intensity on both ends of the court. As a perimeter defender, she is relentless, disrupting opposing offenses with her aggressive on-ball pressure. As a senior leader, she sets the tone with her effort and work ethic. Just when it seemed she might need a breather, she would dig in and crank up the pressure once again. Her defensive tenacity and ability to push the tempo make her an invaluable piece to Central Valley's success.

Meadowdale's top performer, junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='502388' first='Mia' last='Brockmeyer'], put on an impressive display, finishing with 21 points against one of the toughest defenses in the state. Mia showcased her elite shot-making ability, particularly in the mid-range and beyond the arc. Her ability to change pace while handling the ball kept defenders off balance, and her behind-the-back move was especially effective against pressure. As Meadowdale looks ahead to Tacoma, Brockmeyer's ability to take over a game will be a key factor in their success.

Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='751221' first='Lexi' last='Zardis'] displayed toughness and resilience, overcoming a first-half injury to remain a key contributor for Meadowdale. Despite missing time due to a bloody nose, she returned and found ways to impact the game, knocking down contested shots and finishing as one of multiple double-digit scorers for the Mavericks. Her composure under pressure will be crucial as Meadowdale prepares for the state tournament.
