<p class="has-medium-font-size">We took a huge step forward as a program and had a great season this year. We went 19-5 overall with our first State Tournament berth since 2011. At the State Tournament we lost our first game, won our second, and then lost the final game to take a 6th Place Finish. The girls played great all season. We played together and played for each other and that is what allowed us to have the success we did. We had a few injuries throughout the season, and any time a girl was out with a sickness or an injury, the next kids stepped up and filled the void well. We were a balanced team which made us hard to scout or play against. Any time one or two girls was off or struggled to score, someone else picked up the slack. We not only beat the school's All-Time Single Game Scoring Record at 89, we also re-broke our own record just a week or two later at 90, which is a pretty good accomplishment considering previous records would have been set before there was a running clock mercy rule the entire second half like we had this year. We were trademarked most of the season with an aggressive diamond trap press that gave most teams a lot of trouble, provided us with a lot of steals and break away layups. Some of the things we improved upon was definitely our ability to slow down and control possessions, make mature team decisions, and take care of the ball in closer games where it mattered at the end to finish out the games. We had only one senior in Charley Henderson. She will be missed a lot. She brought a mature presence when she was on the floor and was a consistently effective player both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. In the second half of the SoDak 16 game to make it to State, after scoring only 2 points in the first half, Charley stepped up and gave us a true senior effort when it meant the most in the second half to lead us to the State Tournament. Her second half of that game included 13 points with 3 of 3 from beyond the arc, and a backcut layup that ended up being the game winning go ahead basket. With only one senior graduating, and a lot of underclassmen getting tons of minutes and experience I look for us to be very successful in the upcoming season as well.</p>
