Saturday, Prep Girls Hoops, in partnership with Lansing Community College, hosted the first ever PGH JUCO Showcase. The event was intended for interested collegians from Junior Colleges (and other schools) looking to showcase their talents in front of 4-year colleges & universities to potentially earn an offer/roster spot. This is the first of three articles, and this will focus on the 8 ladies from the "Chicago Sky" named team. A couple of players moved around throughout the event, but below is the original roster.

#34 - Meghanne Freehill, Sophomore, 5-4 PG, Black Hawk College
- Meghanne is originally from Cuba but graduated from Lewistown High School (IL). She is a smaller quick, fast, feisty point guard. She showed the ability to penetrate gaps and put pressure on the defense, plus she is a willing passer. This season, she earned Defensive Player of the Year and 1st Team All-Conference awards in the Arrowhead Athletic Conference.

#481 - Ja'Leeah Griggs, Sophomore, 5-7 SF, Delta College
- Ja'Leeah is one of those kids who plays much bigger than she is. She has tremendous length, speed, and some bounce to her. She was active defensively and pursued rebounds outside of her area. She is originally from Arthur Hill High School (MI), and this season she earned Michigan Community College Athletic Association North Defensive Player of the Year honors.

#516 - Shiyah Forte, Freshman, 6-0 PF, Southwestern Michigan College
- Shiyah graduated from Hopkinsville High School (KY) and is one of the rare ones who has gone quite a way from home. She is a strong, athletic, physical forward who doesn't mind contact one bit. She operates a lot in the mid-post where she has nice touch, but she can step out and make a rhythm 3-pointer, or she can overpower smaller defenders on the block.

#519 - Kaylee Glidden, Freshman (RS), 5-9 SG, Kellogg Community College
- Kaylee last played in 2023-2024 and was third in the country in NJCAA D2 scoring at 23.7 ppg. She was a 2023-2024 3rd Team All-American, in addition to many other regional and conference awards. Kaylee is a graduate of Pennfield H.S. (MI), and she is a hard-working, high IQ, shooter. She has a bit of a low shot-pocket, but when she has time, she is highly accurate.

#528 - Anna Honnen, Sophomore, 6-1 C, University of Olivet
- I felt like Anna was a player who really helped herself at this event. She has a big, strong frame, some length, and good footwork & skill around the block. She plays with a nice motor for a traditional post, runs the floor hard, and seeks contact first. She showed soft hands and finished at different angles around the block. She was homeschooled in Michigan for high school.

#529 - Brenae Rice, Freshman, 5-11 PF, Wayne County Community College
- Brenae graduated from Southfield High School for the Arts & Technology. She is a strong, active, athletic front-liner who played with a nice motor. She was willing to be physical defensively and blocking out, plus she pursued rebounds outside of her area. She is more of a defender/rebounder right now, but as she continues to build her mid-post offensive game, watch out.

#626 - Ellie Humble, Sophomore, 5-11 SF, Lansing Community College
- Ellie is a long, wiry perimeter shooter who contributes in multiple ways. She is more so smooth/fluid than truly explosive, but she glides around the floor almost effortlessly. She has nice touch outside, but she's also willing to use her height & length inside to rebound and defend. She's a willing passer with good vision and IQ, and she is a graduate of Haslett High School (MI).

#932 - Nahvia Williams, Sophomore, 5-9 PF, Schoolcraft College
- Nahvia is actually a 2019 graduate of Detroit's Cristo Rey High School. She plays bigger than she is, she's strong, tough, and she has a really nice motor. She's also a solid athlete; she rebounded well at her size and could score it a little at all three levels. But what impressed me most was her vocalness. I think she can come in and help a number of small college programs.
