The four top-seeded teams in the Hiawatha Sub-State will host home games at 7:00.

Each team is one win away from heading to Hiwatha to try to earn a spot in the State Tournament, which will take place in Hutchinson.

Here is a look at one prospect from each of the four games.

No. 1 Osage City (20-1) vs No. 9 Jefferson West (8-10)

Emmie Dean, 5'7”, CG, Jefferson West, ‘28

Dean is having a nice secondary scoring season for the Tigers. She is third on the team in scoring and is a multiple-sport prospect. I have seen her play a ton of volleyball in person but have yet to see her on the basketball court. She is quick and athletic and is a great team player. She is scoring 6.3 points per game and grabbing 3.7 rebounds per contest. She has been scoring from all over the court and has made 20 shots for 3-point range. I watched Osage City play last week, and they are a deep and talented team on a mission to win a title. I want to think West can keep it close, but they will have to play a near-perfect game to keep it within 10 points.

No. 4 Royal Valley (12-6) vs No. 5 Heritage Christian Academy (13-8)

[player_tooltip player_id='1112922' first='Karis' last='KiWe Miller'], 6'0”, PF, Royal Valley, ‘28

This game makes me wish I could be in more than one gym at a time. I have not seen Royal Valley play this season, but they have one of the top-scoring combos in Kansas. Miller is one of two Panthers scoring 14-plus points per game. She is also tearing it up on the glass, grabbing 7.8 rebounds per contest. Miller is also ranked on Prep Dig Kansas as one of the top volleyball prospects to watch in the Kansas Class of 2028.

No. 2 Silver Lake (18-2) vs No. 7 St. Marys (11-9)

[player_tooltip player_id='431037' first='Hayden' last='Heim'], 6'3”, PF, St. Marys, ‘25

The game I plan on attending is a match-up between one of the state's top scorers against the No. 2 Seed Eagles. Heim is scoring more than 25 points per game and can light up the scoreboard. Only one other Bear is scoring in double digits. For the Bears to knock off the Eagles, Heim will have to stay out of foul trouble, and a third scorer will have to emerge. Heim is the second-ranked athlete in the Kansas Class of 2025 and has committed to play college basketball for the Central Missouri Jennies.

No. 3 Wellsville (15-5) vs No. 6 Hiawatha (11-8)

[player_tooltip player_id='906328' first='Kylie' last='Nelson'], 5'5”, SG, Hiawatha, ‘27

Nelson will try to lead the Red Hawks to an upset so Hiawatha can make an appearance in the sub-state being hosted on their home court. She is leading Hiawatha in scoring with an average of 16.1 points per game. She is also recording 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game. Nelson is shooting 60 percent from the free-throw line and has made 44 three-point shots. She is ranked No. 128 by Prep Girls Hoops Kansas.
