"This is A small example of how much our girls improved during the course of the season: Through the first 9 games of the year – all of which we lost - These are our averages offensively and defensively: We averaged 41.8 Points per game during that stretch, while giving up 61.2 points per game. We lost each game by an average of 19 + points. Through the last 13 games of the season – In which we sported a record just below .500 at 6-7, our averages for offense and defense changed dramatically. We averaged 51.4 points per game during that stretch, while giving up 53.2 Points per game. During those 13 games – our margin was -1.8 points. That is quite the turn around mid-season."

"These girls went to work every day, and never gave up the belief that, if they stuck to what we were trying to accomplish, and did that to the best of their ability, that success would eventually come. The mental toughness they displayed during the course of the season was admirable and a great example of “NEVER GIVING UP!!” That is why it is so hard to face the end of the year. These girls kept getting better and better each week, and they did it through hard work, determination, and POSITIVE TEAM ATTITUDES! No one ever showed or verbalized if they cared if someone got more points, more time, more accolades etc… We rotated 9 girls this year, which we have never done – and the girls accepted that without complaint, and played their role to the greatest of their ability. Because of that – we were able to become a much better team from beginning to end. We often emphasize that we want to get 1% better every day – and if we do that, we should come close to being 100% better from day one to the end of the season. Our season lasted 90 days from the first day of practice until the final buzzer of our last game. We exceeded the 1% better mantra in that period of time – as we improved over 100% as a group during those months. Their game play emulated that unselfish attitude as well. We had 5 different girls lead us in scoring in our 22 games this year, which again – I don't believe has ever happened since I've been coaching the girls. They became a very good, and very dangerous TEAM by the time the season ended. I can't emphasize how much pride and privilege I had to be able to be associated with this group of girls."

"Avery Boll and Abriana Lesmann were our defensive spark plugs this season. They often came in during dead ball situations when we were on defense, and then would come out on a dead ball when we were on offense. They worked their tails off, and were a big reason for our defensive turnaround as a team mid-season. Lydia Bryans and Olivia Ogaard – were our offensive role players this season. They often subbed in together and out together for the latter two mentioned. They were our 3 point threats and could light it up and change the course of the game around at any given time."

PGHD: What can you tell us about your seniors?

"We had 5 seniors this year that all contributed in their own way. The biggest thing they brought to the table was maturity and leadership, and for that they will be sorely missed."

"Laken Lee, Ashley Tabarez, and Abriana Lesmann – all started for us. Laken was our post, and She had an AMAZING season! She was often undersized on both sides of the ball, but was able to light up the scoreboard a few times this year, as well as doing a great job being physical inside. Ashley got hurt the first game of the year, and missed the next 7 games. Once she returned – all the pieces started to come together as we started to get into the win column. Her leadership abilities, as well as her “big play” ability will be missed. Abriana Lesmann, was our defensive standout – and her toughness and attitude will be sorely missed. Our two other seniors were Kaitlin Kopplin and Addison Wallace. Kaitlin saw a handful of minutes a night, and always did a great job when she was in! She is an amazing young woman, and had grown so much as a player over her 4 years. She provided a lot of quality minutes for us this year. Addison was a great team player, and always took advantage of the situation when she saw the floor. She never complained and always supported her teammates when she wasn't in the game."

PGHD: Who are some of your up-and-comers to keep track of?

"We return 5 girls that saw a vast amount of time on Varsity this year, while losing the other 4 that saw a lot of time to graduation. [player_tooltip player_id='1136997' first='Macy' last='Bryans'] (Starting PG) was our lone All-District player this year as a sophomore. Marleigh Henry started for us this year as a junior. Olivia Ogaard was a sophomore who started for us during Ashley's absence, Avery Boll was a sophomore who was a great defensive sparkplug, as well as being the fastest woman alive. Lydia Bryans was a 7th grade offensive stand-out for us this year. All 5 will have to step up their games next year in order for us to be competitive. I'm very happy with what we have returning, and our other girls need to really work in the off-season to be able to contribute to our team next season. With our style of play and pace of play, we need to be confident in our bench to put in quality minutes to give our starters a breather."

PGHD: Any final comments/wrap up to the season?

"I'm very excited for the near future with this squad, as we have all of a sudden become somewhat young as a team, but will have a lot of experience. I'm hoping that we will start the season at the level that we ended this season, and continue to improve at the rate that we did this year. If we can do that – we are going to be very competitive."
