After last weekend's event, I have a few 17U standouts to highlight. It may take a few days, but there is plenty of time to talk about all the standouts I saw and preview the April live period at the end of the month.

[player_tooltip player_id='777580' first='Sarah' last='Bolchen']

The Manitowoc native has one speed she plays at, and it's fast. Bolchen is an undersized guard who wants to get downhill and put pressure on the rim. Her ability to beat her initial defender off the dribble opens up opportunities for her teammates to get open looks or to go up strong around the basket. Bolchen did an excellent job getting to the free-throw line in the high school season for Lincoln and did that over the weekend. She'll be a kid small schools will value.

[player_tooltip player_id='751243' first='Ava' last='Vogler']

Since I've known Vogler, she's never been a physically imposing figure on the floor, but she's found ways to put the ball in the basket. Vogler is a rangey 5'7 guard who can create off the dribble. The Sun Prairie native has always been able to generate shots whenever she wants and is skilled enough to do it consistently. I thought she had an excellent showing this weekend and should be a kid that scholarship-level programs should take time to evaluate if they get the opportunity.

[player_tooltip player_id='842209' first='Aspen' last='Abel']

In the last six months, Abel played significant minutes for a new AAU and high school program and impacted both groups. The Notre Dame wing is a versatile kid who can play inside and out, with or without the ball, with her back to the basket or facing the basket. She's a Swiss army knife type of player, and Abel showed that this past weekend with [program_tooltip program_id='1230720' first='Team' last='Herro']. Few kids can cut and score around the basket while also being able to create shots off the dribble like Abel.

[player_tooltip player_id='842247' first='Madi' last='Thomson']

The Lena guard is a unique kid, to say the least. She's a sizeable backcourt kid who can attack the basket at will and see what's happening all over the floor because she can see over most kids who defend her on the perimeter. She does an excellent job attacking the basket and playing through contact, finished, and rebounded around the rim when her team needed stops or baskets. She'll be an intriguing kid for small schools in the state. I love what she does on both ends of the floor with her size.
