2029 Top Young Gun Showcase impact players - the next batch

The Top Young Gun Showcase in Tucson hosted several of the top 2029's in the State, and the event featured several players that were off the radar of most local scouts, but have put themselves in the mix of the individual rankings going into the 2025/2026 High School season. Here are some of the players that we feel will make an impact right away on their respective teams.    Taya Long is a multi dimensional player that has tremendous upside. She can play guard or forward and she can guard multiple positions. I feel that she will be one of the best pure shooters in the State by her Senior year. She has terrific form, and she has length to shoot over most guards and forwards. She is a good athlete that moves well and and she has a great work ethic. Look for her to play a significant role for Coconino this season.     Brooklyn Doyle is an under the radar player that has perhaps the most potential out of anyone in the 2029 class in Arizona. She has excellent size and is still growing. She can really move well for a player her size and she is a good athlete. She is still developing her shooting skills and her inside game, but I see her as a potential prolific scorer after a couple years with the Lancers. She will be challenged every day in practice which will accelerate her growth. Look for her to get some playing time with the Varsity this coming season as Salpointe lost several Seniors from last year's team.     MJ Francis is going to make some noise this upcoming season for whatever High School she ends up attending. She has very good size and she is very tough inside for a player her age. She has good offensive skills and puts in a lot of work to continue to develop. She has a passion for basketball and she has a desire to be great. Defensive and rebounding will be her trademark early in her career as she will be able to guard forwards and centers on the high school level immediately, and she will be a potential double digit rebounder her first year.     Layliah Thomas is a versatile guard that has excellent ball-handling skills and is a very solid shooter. She is a very good defender that will be able to guard 3 positions. She has a chance to get significant playing time this upcoming season for Dobson. She is a motivated player that is always refining her game and is never satisfied. She is a high character player that will excel on the court and in the classroom. Look for Layliah to be one of the best players to ever come out of Dobson by the end of her career. And those are very high expectations.     Brynnley Henry is a terrific combo guard that is a very good ball handler for her age and can score from all 3 levels. She is a tough defender that can guard point guards, shooting guards, and small forwards. She plays well against high level competition which I think gives her a chance to play on the Varsity level her first year of high school. Brynnley plays the game with a sense of urgency and confidence which I think will ultimately lead her to a standout career at Coconino.
