The first of the Prep Girls Hoops circuit Dynasty events kicked off on a cold rainy (flash flood warnings) morning in Ft. Worth, Texas. Despite the weather, teams were heating up early on the court. The players below are the first of my coverage from the tournament and they are all playmakers and standouts.

The power that Mingo plays with is hard to go unnoticed. In transition she combines speed, strength, and size to go up strong to follow her shot for put back finishes. She is constantly moving on offense, posting or waiting to set screens on the wing. Mingo plays hard on both ends of the floor, diving for loose balls and utilizing her strength to win jump ball scenarios before the whistle is called.

Strong competitor and team's leading scorer. Whether Anderson is making accurate reads to the basket, she catches on the wing and finds the cracks to get to the cup and uses length to finish. Because she receives a lot of attention from the defense, she is able to keep the ball high and find her teammates for easy uncontested buckets in the half court game and makes reads just as good in transition. Demonstrates great control and plays within herself. Anderson has two more years of high school ball left to play, and is already looking like a next level prospect.

Time after time, Dercks made great reads to get to the basket and score. She understands when to pulp for the midrange versus lay the ball up. She is a pesky defender and really pressures the opposing point guard which leads to steals and break away finishes. Her ability to change speed highlights her athleticism in the full court game which is another quality that separates herself.

Woods heated up in the second half and was beyond exciting to watch. She showed impressive finishes at the basket including reverse across the lane scoop finishes and pull up midrange jumpers after sprinting down full speed. She moves well without the ball. Her jump stop midrange game is hard to guard not only because she has a high releasing shot, but also because of her ability to double clutch in the air and drawl the defense in.

Holland is the go to player for her team. She runs the show, gets her teammates involved and shows her ability to finish with multiple and 1 finishes. Overall, she is a playmaker for her team. It is very evident Holland understands how to score in 3 on 2 or 2 on 1 situations. She consistently sets up her teammates for an assist in transition. On the defensive end, Holland competed with just as much effort as she did a nice job of face guarding the primary ball handler to make someone else handle ball.
