The Legacy Region Kick-Off tips off this evening, and we have a few more kids to highlight before the games start. We'll have more about intriguing performers tomorrow, so let's finish previewing the event today.

[player_tooltip player_id='842209' first='Aspen' last='Abel']

Abel had a breakout summer in 2024 and will look to build on that with her new group at [program_tooltip program_id='1230720' first='Team' last='Herro']. The 6'0 wing has some positional versatility and even played as a lead guard last summer. However, with her size, she's also spent some time as a wing and as a post. She's a well-rounded kid who's turned into a Swiss army knife in the past 12 months. Abel's junior season at Notre Dame was limited due to injury, but she had some excellent showings when healthy last season.

Kiera Van Wie

I love watching Van Wie play. The 5'11 wing came off the bench for Waunakee in her first high school season and brought as much juice to the floor as anyone I saw this past season. She was among the best defenders in her class because of her activity and versatility and was the reason the Warriors' full-court press was as effective as it was when they turned the heat up. Offensively, she showed some flashes sometimes, but it wasn't her role. I'm eager to see her in an AAU setting.

[player_tooltip player_id='751291' first='Grace' last='Mitchell']

The Winneconne wing was a significant reason her Wolves group was on the cusp of a Sectional Final in her sophomore season. Mitchell is a high-usage kid and has done well creating for herself and her teammates. She has the physical tools that make me believe there is something to work with. Mitchell is an athletic and physical kid with solid body control for a wing. She hasn't been as efficient on the offensive end as you'd hope, but she's improved each year and will have an opportunity to turn some heads this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1228818' first='Rianna' last='Dye']

Dye is a name coaches will learn quickly. The Platteville native was among the most productive posts I saw this past season. I knew coaches would be intrigued by what she brought to the floor. You don't see many 6'1 kids who make the game look as simple as Dye does, and it's uncommon for kids her size to be as fluid as she is at her age. The 2027 forward may have a year before the local schools start picking up significant interest, but there will be D2 and NAIA schools who should take some time to see her play. She'll be a kid that will draw some attention over the next 12 months.
