Southern Arizona 2028 Breakout Performers

Several Freshmen (2028) players played some significant minutes last year for their respective Varsity teams, and will be expected to carry a much bigger load next season. One of the deeper classes in Southern Arizona, the 2028's will be interesting to watch the next few years to see which players separate themselves from the pack, and climb the rankings in Arizona.    [player_tooltip player_id='1139266' first='Isa' last='Berg'] saw a lot of playing time during the 2024/2025 season, and she also was playing significant minutes in clutch situations. Her stock will continue to rise as she grows and develops in a very good Mica Mt. program. She is a Combo Guard that will probably settle in as the Point Guard for the next 3 years. She is a good ball handler, she makes good decisions with the ball, and she can score when opportunities arise. She is a tough player that has a high basketball IQ, and is an extension of the coaching staff on the floor.     [player_tooltip player_id='1139263' first='Aliyah' last='Adger'] is an intriguing prospect that has tremendous potential. She saw a decent amount of playing time on the Varsity as a Freshman, and she is part of arguably the top program in Southern Arizona, Salpointe Catholic. She is a very tough player that is a shut down defender. She can score at all 3 levels and she is a player of high character that will enhance the culture at Salpointe for years to come.     [player_tooltip player_id='1139270' first='Jamie' last='Meyer'] is someone who is under the radar right now, but will soon be a household name in Southern Arizona basketball circles. She played some varsity basketball this season, her freshman year, but she was behind some very good senior players that have now graduated. Jamie has good offensive skills and defensive skills, but she is the type of player that is driven and motivated to become a great player. She works hard all year at developing her game, and Catalina Foothills will be counting on her to become a significant part of their roster moving forward.     [player_tooltip player_id='1139274' first='Emily' last='Martinez'] will be part of a Rincon team that will be among the state's best in the next 2 years. Emily is a big guard/small forward that is a very good shooter and scorer. She is a good defender that can defend multiple positions. She is a tough player that has played year round for several years to develop her game. Next year she will explode onto the scene in my opinion and will be a big time player for a very good Rincon team.     [player_tooltip player_id='1139277' first='Yaya' last='Ortega'] was a valuable player for Sahuarita as a freshman last season and will be the Point Guard for the next 3 seasons. She is a very good ball handler and she makes good decisions under pressure with the ball in her hands. She is a good shooter that will continue to develop, and she can score on all 3 levels. She can defend multiple positions and she is a leader on the floor. She will be climbing the rankings lists the next few years as the floor general for the Mustangs.
