Last month, we updated our rankings in each of the four graduating classes currently in high school. With the Spring grassroots season in full swing, I wanted to take a moment to press 'pause', go back, and look at the Combo Guards in the Class of 2027 who we currently have ranked. Below that is a little analysis on a handful of them as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='911978' first='Alivia' last='Dawson'], 2027, 5-8 CG, Penn H.S.
- Alivia saw a handful of Varsity minutes as a Freshman, but due to significant 2024 graduation losses, she saw a major uptick in minutes as a Sophomore. She has a solid to strong frame, nice length, and she doesn't mind contact. I was able to see her for the first time last July, and I was most impressed with her versatility. She can shoot it outside, attack the basket North/South, plus she is a willing and creative passer who handles it fairly well against pressure. I'm just not sure what position she'll play at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='751061' first='Grace' last='Deaton'], 2027, 5-6 CG, Monrovia H.S.
- When I had the opportunity to see Monrovia play over the Winter, Grace struck me as one of those guards who does a little of everything well, but she always brings a feisty energy to the court. She has nice length, good speed & quickness, and she affects both ends of the floor. She'll gamble a little for steals, but she can defend on or off the ball equally well. Offensively, she can knock down shots outside, weave her way to the basket off the bounce, plus find open teammates in positions to score.

[player_tooltip player_id='756244' first='Courtney' last='Mathew'], 2027, 5-10 CG, Rensselaer Central H.S.
- Courtney is one of the best prospects in Indiana's 2027 class that too few people know much about. She is extremely long, wiry, fluidly athletic, and versatile skillfully. She handles the ball a lot for Rensselaer, she is a more than willing passer, she can create off the dribble, but she can also score it from all three levels. Most importantly, she never seems rattled, and she always plays hard. Defensively, she can really sit down and defend the ball, plus she uses her length well from "help side" to rack up steals/deflections.

[player_tooltip player_id='890886' first='Jayma' last='Stonebraker'], 2027, 5-7 CG, Whitko H.S.
- Jayma, and her older sister Reese (2026), have made a major impact on the Whitko program since transferring in during the 2023-2024 school year. Jayma is a really nice athlete built on speed, she has good length, and she plays hard. She is a scorer at heart, but she has the ball-handling tools to create offense for herself and others, plus she can defend all guard spots equally well. Offensively, she can get to the basket and finish, plus she is a very good 3-point shooter and an excellent free throw shooter.
