I don’t know that Courtney has ever been a “wow factor” type of kid, and she wasn’t yesterday either. But what she did was keep her team in a tough game by making big plays, whether it was saving a possession with an offensive rebound, or making a tough, contested shot, she was involved and efficient. Courtney plays with a quiet toughness, and she is a high IQ ballplayer. She rarely makes the same mistakes, but she can create offense, make open shots, and she’s an outstanding defender. I think she’ll be able to give minutes as a college Freshman because of her defense.

is the type of point guard coaches trust because of her composure and decision-making. She plays under control, handles pressure well, and consistently puts teammates in positions to succeed. Mathew has continued improving her ability to create offense while maintaining strong floor leadership qualities. Her basketball IQ stands out every time she steps on the floor.
She enters June ball as a player capable of elevating Rensselaer Central with her ability to manage tempo and organize the offense. Defensively, she competes hard and stays active around the basketball. As her scoring confidence continues to grow, she becomes even more difficult to defend because teams already have to respect her passing and playmaking abilities. Expect her to be one of the more productive lead guards during June competition.

Rensselaer Central | 2027 StateIN is a true floor general who brings leadership, poise, and high-level playmaking ability to the point guard position. The Rensselaer Central standout does an excellent job controlling tempo and keeping teammates involved while also being capable of scoring when needed. Her vision and passing ability allow her to create quality offensive opportunities consistently.
Mathew’s composure under pressure separates her from many guards. She understands how to manage the game and make winning plays in important moments. Defensively, she competes hard and applies pressure on opposing ball handlers. Illinois State is getting a dependable point guard who understands the game and can lead a team effectively on both ends of the floor.
I’ve been a fan of Courtney’s and talked about her on this platform for some time now, and after an outstanding July, she’s starting to see some offers roll in because of her play. She isn’t overly demonstrative and just has a workmanlike approach to the game. She will get out there and grind from beginning to end, and she’s one of those players who will do whatever her team needs from her. Courtney is long, athletic, and highly skilled. She takes care of the basketball, she has become a more consistent scorer, and she is a talented defender.
Courtney is always one of the hardest workers in the gym, so it is to no one’s surprise that she produces at the level she does. In addition, she has length, wiry strength, and some bounce in her step. She plays with great balance and does a little of everything well. She can handle, run offense, or create and find teammates. She has improved her perimeter shot, but she can also attack downhill and finish through contact. Finally, Courtney is a plus-defender.
I’m not sure how else to express it than to say Courtney might have one of the most subtly good games in the 2027 class. She is just solid…all the time. She is extremely long, wiry, and fluid/smooth. She can knock down open rhythm jumpers, handle the ball and run offense, or slice to the basket and finish around the rim. But I think the area where she is probably best is at the defensive end of the floor on the ball. She can be an elite defender at times.
Courtney is another one of the talented, versatile players on the Rensselaer roster. She has a high ceiling and could have a huge Spring & Summer on the grassroots circuit. She is extremely long, fluidly athletic, and she has worked hard on putting together a complete skillset. She can handle the ball and act as a creator. She is a solid perimeter shooter who can also quickly get to the rim. Defensively, I think she is a bit overlooked, but she uses her length well to defend smaller PGs, plus she can defend all guards & wings.
