Big City Hoop Memorial Day Bash Under the Radar Performers

There were several players at the Big City Hoops Memorial Day Bash Team Showcase that performed at a high level and established themselves as players that will be counted on heavily next season to provide depth and experience for their respective teams.    [player_tooltip player_id='1139300' first='Ximena' last='Castaneda'] had a breakout season last season as a Freshman. She started every game and continued to show improvement as the season went along. She is a lightning quick defender that can run down players in the open floor and can close out on shooters. She has the ability to get steals in pressure situations and turn defense into offensive opportunities consistently. Her offensive game is continuing to develop at a high level and she will go down as one of the best players to come out of Desert View in a long time.     Solana Celaya is an under the radar performer that has the ability to become a very good all-around player. She is a long small forward that is a good defender, rebounder, and rim protector. She has a very good motor and she is a physically tough player. She is a good shooter especially in the mid-range and around the hoop. Look for Celaya to have a huge impact on the Desert View team next season and vie for some All Region honors.     Jazmin Echegaray is the prototype Power Forward. She is good size and length, and she is a very good athlete. She can defend both forwards and centers and she can play the wing and in the Post on offense. She is one of the most intriguing prospects I saw all weekend. If she continues to develop, she has incredible potential. I see her as a college prospect at this point because of her size and athleticism.     Sam Black is an up and coming prospect in Southern Arizona and has tremendous potential. She is a very good defender and rim protector inside the paint. She can move well for a power forward and she can run the floor well. She is a good shooter that has shown the ability to score inside and in the mid range. She will be one of the top players in 3A Southern Arizona in the very near future.     Yaretzi Castaneda is a very intriguing young prospect that is going to explode onto the scene in 2026/27 when she becomes a freshman at Pueblo. She is a terrific ball handler for her age, and she can stay calm in pressure situations. She is a good shooter and she already has the ability to score on all 3 levels. She is a tough defender and she is a battle tested player for her age that will only continue to get better.
