While United NJ may have been the dominant team in the 16U and 17U divisions going a combined 8-0 and the Mid-Atlantic Magic went 4-0 at 15U, there were girls from plenty of programs making noise at Total Turf this weekend as we get closer to the next live period. Here were some of the standouts.

[player_tooltip player_id='644270' first='Gabby' last='D'Agostino'] - United 17U Power 24

Gabby put on a show in the premier game of the weekend which pitted her United NJ 17U P24 team against the [program_tooltip program_id='714654' first='NJ' last='Shoreshots'] 17U HGSL. There was a lot of hype about the amount of talented guards in this game, but Gabby shone the brightest in this one. The Shoreshots tried multiple defenders and they were all unable to stay in front of her in this one. She scored at all 3 levels but didn't have to settle for deep 3's because of the easy time she had getting into the lane for her pull-ups, floaters and finishes at the rim with serious spin off the glass. She had 11 of her team's 23 1st half points and, playing the point, she did not turn the ball over in this one.

[player_tooltip player_id='871374' first='Sophie' last='Lane'] - United 17U Power 24

Sophie has provided consistent scoring for United and she was tough to stop in the opener game rout over Total Skills. She showed offer her range hitting multiple 3-pointers and she finished inside off offensive rebounds and with steal layups. Her length was a disruption for the Total Skills offense as she contributed on the defensive end with a couple of blocks and several steals as part of the United NJ pressure. Sophie also attacked the glass at both ends and this contribution will be big for and undersized United NJ team as the live period approaches.

[player_tooltip player_id='559132' first='Brielle' last='Alaba'] - [program_tooltip program_id='714654' first='NJ' last='Shoreshots'] 17U HGSL

Brielle started off day 2 on a mission after a loss Saturday night. In a win over the [program_tooltip program_id='802585' first='Central' last='Jersey Hawks'], she took control early. She scored at the rim, in the pull up game and at the 3-point line int he 1st half and was in double digits by the break. She played in control and used her length to take advantage of a smaller opponent. She continues to handle the ball more and more in this offense and she is just as comfortable running the show as she is moving off the ball and finding scoring opportunities. Her length and ability to guard the perimeter makes her a versatile 1-3 defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='677604' first='Skylar' last='Clark'] - Street Ballers 16U HGSL

The new kids on the block Street Ballerz continue to take the HGSL by storm and Skylar was a major factor in Sunday's OT win over the Lady Runnin Rebels HGSL. Her speed was a game changer at both ends. She was able to push tempo and either get to the rim or dish to teammates for buckets. Defensively, she was wrecking possessions in the backcourt with her quick feet and ability to stay in front of the ball. She is thriving in the Street Ballerz pressure d and will put those skills on display in the upcoming live period at the Atlantic City Showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id='835253' first='Gisela' last='Tapia'] - Street Ballers 16U HGSL

Gisela has strenght and size and those were on display in a back and forth loss to Coastline Hoops 16U. She worked the middle and scored with her back to the basket but did not show any hesitation when stepping out to open up driving lanes for her teammate. She spotted up and looked very comfortable in the catch and shoot game. No matter where she caught the ball she was looking to score. Her activity on the boards was noticeable and she continues to improve her game for the Steet Ballerz.

[player_tooltip player_id='601332' first='Annie' last='Conover'] - United NJ 17U Power 24

Annie was electric on Sunday. She hit three consecutive 3-pointers early in the 2nd half against the Lady Runnin Rebels and approached 20 points in both Sunday games. At 5'7", she continues to show no fear attacking the rim and finishing and she is also a terrific rebounder at the guard position. She gets out in transition and finishes there as well. More suited to the 2 guard she is not afraid to step up and take the ball to initiate offense whenever she is needed. She has a calm demeanor and creates a physical presence on both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id='651478' first='Tatum' last='Sharpe'] - United NJ 16U Power 24

United NJ 16U went 4-0 and won 3 of those games by 1 point. Tatum's energy jumps out when you watch her play. She plays fast at both ends. She has great length and uses it to be disruptive force on D. She is quick enough to guard on the perimeter and long enough to get inside and rebound. She likes to get out and run in transition and fills lanes quickly and finishes aggressively and in a variety of ways at the rim. She is the consummate teammate and is always doing whatever is asked of her on the floor. When playing with the ball in transition or in the half court she showed excellent vision finding open cutters for easy baskets.
