“Development is greater than winning” is a strong sentiment increasing in grassroots discourse. Run It Back's top three producers did not play in the final game, which NW Reign dominated to win first place. Run It Back coach Jeff Chatman played the long game and risked a grassroots trophy by prioritizing player development and resource management. Chatman gave bench players the opportunity to start and play significant minutes in a local championship game, a strategy with the goal to deepen his roster and keep his players healthy. Run It Back plays next at Live! In Las Vegas, a Select Events Basketball tournament, on May 16-18.

Run It Back power forward Kennedy Bockert was an outstanding two-way player in the paint at the NW Cup. The 6-foot-1 sophomore (2027) is a tenacious rebounder and a force on the offensive boards, winning inside position and outjumping her opponent. She goes back up strong through contact for the putback. She posts up strong, faces up, and gets to the block for the easy bucket. She's working on her turnaround jumper. Bockert protects the paint on defense, tipping the inside pass and standing her ground on help defense to make the block. She battles for position with the opposing big. Bockert runs track, so she naturally runs up and down the basketball court. She finishes fast and strong in the paint in transition.

Run It Back point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1051328' first='Jalise' last='Chatman'] is a fast and smooth playmaker with excellent vision and quick decision-making. The 5-foot-9 sophomore (2027) has a 6-foot-1 wingspan, is swift to get downhill, and can finish on both sides of the rim. Chatman consistently gets her team into its offense, and she creates for herself and for her teammates. She drives and dishes to find the open player underneath or kicks out to the shooter on the perimeter. Chatman is a plus-rebounder who pushes the pace effortlessly, weaving through traffic down the court, making the right read, and delivering the bounce pass assist in the 2v1.

Run It Back shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='590872' first='Janessa' last='Chatman'] is a smooth and quick 3-and-D player. The 5-foot-8 unsigned senior (2025) is lethal from three-point range. Chatman works well to get open on the perimeter and knocks down the catch-and-shoot. She shot 48% from three at Union her senior season. She rebounds and launches the full-court precision pass, leading the runner to the basket for the assist. She's a lockdown defender at any position, slowing guards down on the perimeter and battling strong against bigs for position inside.

Run It Back combo guard Brynnlee Williams is a hard-working glue player with a motor. She's an all-state goalkeeper and a tremendous athlete. The 5-foot-7 junior (2027) makes the athletic block on the driver, wins the 50/50s, and takes care of the ball. She has quick feet on defense to guard the perimeter and quick hands to pick the dribbler. She can drive and hang at the basket to draw the foul on the controlled finish. She'll fight for position to win the offensive rebound and can draw the foul on the big on the putback attempt.

Run It Back guard Shiloh Conedy is a hard-working player with the ability to mix it up on both ends. The 5-foot-8 junior (2026) has a nice stroke and can hit the catch-and-shoot three. Conedy attacks the basket, scores in transition, and crashes the offensive boards. She is not afraid of contact, will drive through traffic, and draws the foul. Conedy made the right read for the assist in transition.
