Saturday kicked off out PGH Victory Region Finals taking place in the Chicagoland area throughout the next two days. During Day 1 we saw a lot of hungry prospects, trying to make a name for themselves prior to high school ball taking over next week. In this article we discuss a few players that were catching the attention of anyone paying attention near-by.

[player_tooltip player_id='1227046' first='Ashley' last='Powell'] took the floor this morning and looked the past once again for her [program_tooltip program_id='714222' first='BIG3' last=''] 17U team. Powell, a 5'10 SG, is someone that we highlighted last week because of her picture perfect shooting ability off the catch. Well, it was obvious today in her contest that the opposing team knew what was up. They were closing out on Powell with high hands and short chops, trying to contain her as much as possible. From what I've seen, Powell could be a next level player in the right system, she just needs to find her fit.

[player_tooltip player_id='882430' first='Rheayanna' last='Ferguson'] has a solid handle and head on her shoulders. She is the definition of determined when she is heading toward the basket, usually finishing the take with a nice finish herself or she gets to the line for free throw attempts. Ferguson's team loves to use ball screens and she excels in those pick and roll situations while going toward the bucket.

There is a lot to like about [player_tooltip player_id='1226425' first='Kaylee' last='Kramer'] and her output on the hardwood. Kramer is a 6'0 Center but she can also move to the outside of the three point line and maneuver off of the ball as well. She runs transition pretty accurately, always doing her work early in a possession while she can for an easy bucket. When it comes to the half court, she is efficient with her back to the basket but she also moves with such great pace that she can slash for simply looks. Defensively, KK can switch between guarding the 3, 4, and 5 spots right now. That will change up at the collegiate level, if that's her goal one day but for now - she definitely holds her own

One of the more promising prospects that we have seen out of the 2030 Class this weekend is Alyvia Simon of [program_tooltip program_id='714232' first='Pink' last='Elite'] 13U NXT. Simon already stands at 5'5, she moves like a guard at this size, and she has some athletic ability as well. At this time Simon has the ability to finish over smaller defenders near the bucket or she can take someone off the dribble from the three point line. With someone out of the 2030 Class, this one checks off a lot of boxes. She just needs to keep working and stay locked in on getting better every day.

Fasting actions, natural instincts defensively, chaos creator, there are just a few ways to describe [player_tooltip player_id='743619' first='Maliyah' last='Mays'] of [program_tooltip program_id='834910' first='Example' last='Sports'] 2026 Black. Mays demonstrated on Saturday that she could be elite on the defensive side of the ball. She gets her hands on a tip or deflections almost every other play it seems like and that throws a big wrinkle into the opposing team's plan. She can also finish on either side of the bucket in transition and she is willing to make the extra pass to an open teammate. [program_tooltip program_id='712375' first='All' last='in'] all, great showing for Mays and company to start off this event.
