Mays has the skillset to either be your focal point or she can adjust her game to be a strong complementary piece. Either way, she can impact the game offensively from all spots. She’s just that aggressive on the defensive too. Adaptable, fast, and highly aware.

Maliyah had a great first day for Example Sports 2026 Black at our PGH Victory Region Finals. She caught passes in transition and finished with both hands off two feet. Maliyah moved quickly on defense to keep the ball contained and fired crisp passes for assists to teammates. She caught the ball on the wing, burst through the gap with a rip move, and crossed over to bank in a tough floater over a contesting defender. Maliyah made a nice adjustment, coralling an off target pass in transition, and finishing with a left handed layup. She caused deflections and steals with her active defense, proving to be a difference maker on both ends.

2026 Black. Mays demonstrated on Saturday that she could be elite on the defensive side of the ball. She gets her hands on a tip or deflections almost every other play it seems like and that throws a big wrinkle into the opposing team’s plan. She can also finish on either side of the bucket in transition and she is willing to make the extra pass to an open teammate.
All in
all, great showing for Mays and company to start off this event.

This lefty has game! She is so smooth going to the basket, does a great job protecting the ball, and she can certainly slice and dice, finishing in traffic with contact! Whoever is guarding her- they have a tough assignment!

Mays has that quick first step and the solid ball handling to go with it. Example is usually home to some of the best guards in the state, which gives a little insight on how Mays could turn some heads this summer.

It is always a pleasure to see Maliyah on the court. She improves every time I get to see her play. She has a quick first step and is able to throw off her defenders with ease. She is a versatile shooter, she can shoot from the arc and drive to the basket with a soft touch. I predict she will have a big sophomore year!
