The first full day of the Champions Challenge starts in a few hours, and before it starts, I'd like to start by highlighting a few kids I would like to see today at some point.

[player_tooltip player_id='533062' first='Tay' last='Maass']

The Appleton native is a physical kid who may not have been at her best in the high school season because of various circumstances. However, she's a kid who fits her [program_tooltip program_id='732460' first='Playmakers/Thrive' last=''] team well. She runs the floor well, gives them an edge with her play around the basket, and is an excellent screen setter for a team with only guards around the perimeter most of the time. She also has a terrific touch around the basket and a nose for the ball off the glass.

Rhianna Barker

The motor Barker has will take her places. There are things she has to work on offensively, but she does so much that it's hard to dislike watching her play. Barker is an excellent hustle player and will create extra possessions out of thin air with how well she rebounds on the offensive end, corrals loose balls, and attacks any 50/50 ball. She's a physical wing who can create sometimes, but someone will fall in love with her game.

[player_tooltip player_id='533058' first='Samantha' last='Davis']

Davis' athleticism jumps off the page. She's had to play larger with the makeup of her Team Prime Nation 17U EYBL team the last two seasons, but makes it work. The way she rebounds against kids half a foot taller than her is impressive, and she's assumed a leadership role with a team that's needed one. I could talk about how skilled and talented she is on the floor, but the intangibles she brings are more intriguing because she's been comfortable as a leader since I first saw her a few years ago. There aren't many kids with leadership qualities like hers. Davis will be successful for the rest of her basketball career and beyond.

Madison Dalrymple

The Winter, Wisconsin, native is someone I'm eager to watch. I've never seen her in person. She's improved the last few seasons at the high school level as a high-usage guard/wing, and I'd like to see what that looks like in person. Dalrymple is a kid who impressed me when I saw her on film against small school kids, but I'd like to see her against kids who are at her level in Appleton today or tomorrow.
